Me doing nothing cuz no internet

I found myself in Puerto Rico for a work involving the establishment of a new bank. It was a professional endeavor that brought me to this beautiful island, and I had been provided a comfortable Airbnb in the heart of Old San Juan to make my stay enjoyable. However, this work-related trip came with an unexpected twist—there was no internet connection at my Airbnb.

As someone who heavily relies on being constantly connected for work, this lack of internet was not just an inconvenience; it was incredibly frustrating. My smartphone had become an indispensable tool, a gateway to my job, colleagues, and crucial communications. The thought of being offline for the entire duration of my trip was unsettling.

My frustration grew as I repeatedly checked my phone, hoping for a signal or a Wi-Fi connection to miraculously appear. The situation weighed on me heavily, but one sunny afternoon, I decided to temporarily put aside my worries by taking a refreshing shower. The bathroom of my Airbnb was a pleasant surprise, featuring an elegant glass-enclosed shower that offered a view of the PR beachside.

As the cool water washed over me, I felt my tension dissipate, not just from the refreshing shower but also from my concerns about the missing internet. Also, I felt less dirty. Stepping out of the shower and wrapping myself in a towel or two, as I tend to indulge in places where I don't do my own laundry, I was startled to find several messages flashing on my phone's screen. A glimmer of hope surged within me, only to be swiftly dashed as the messages refused to load—there was still no internet.

Later that evening, as I prepared to explore Old San Juan's vibrant streets and nightlife after a day of work, I decided to indulge in another shower. The bathroom's soothing ambiance and warm water seemed like the perfect way to unwind before a night out.

Once again, after my second shower, the messages appeared on my phone, only to vanish when I tried to access them. A peculiar thought crossed my mind—what if the shower somehow made the internet work, even if just for a short while? It sounded preposterous, but I couldn't resist entertaining the idea.

With curiosity getting the better of me, I decided to put my theory to the test. Before entering the shower for the third time that day, I left my phone outside the bathroom, ensuring it had no internet connection. As I stood under the cascading water, I watched my phone closely through the glass door.

To my astonishment, as the water flowed over me, the messages once again appeared on my phone's screen. It seemed that the magical power of my Airbnb's shower somehow conjured the internet, even if only momentarily. I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all.

With my newfound discovery in mind, I ventured out to explore Puerto Rico and oversee the bank project during the day. In the evenings, I embraced the island's vibrant nightlife, occasionally checking my messages after a shower—my peculiar workaround for the lack of internet.

I had stumbled upon an unusual quirk of my Puerto Rican Airbnb, but through it all, I realized that sometimes, being disconnected from the digital world allowed me to fully immerse myself in the moment. Puerto Rico offered not only professional opportunities but also the magic of unexpected discoveries—a reminder that even in a work-oriented trip, the best connections are sometimes made offline and without a signal.
