This is one of those destinations that put Circular Quay on the map. Back when Vivid first started in 2009+, Circular Quay wasn’t this massive, but now as the festival became more popular, it had no choice but to expand to more space. The Quay now houses numerous first-class venues and restaurants including the cuban-inpired Hacienda restaurant and cocktail lounge. The tropical and earthy snacks offered here are favourite among Sydneysiders, tender pork neck pieces, jerk chicken sliders, ‘nduja spiced up burger, to name a few. The Caribbean-inspired dishes paired with a curated list of cocktails and a selection of dark liquors, coupled with stunning harbour views makes this unique restaurant a must-visit during the festival.
You may already know about the Museum of Contemporary Art being one of the first places to visit if you're looking to admire some native or international art. But the institution also has s dingin spot on the rooftop terrace, offering one of the best views of Vivid Sydney. On selected days, usually Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the terrace will come to life with vivid colours and guests can admire the MCA light projection on its facade, all the while sipping on a drink or two. The place is free to visit but be sure to check the available dates.
Hotel Palisade is part of Sydney’s unique foreshore history and is said to be the highest building in the city when it was built over a century ago. The building was revived with the help of a maritime design and now on the fourth and fifth floors, Henry Deane offers 180 degrees if the harbour and its precincts. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows throughout the bar make sure that you take in all the harbour lights while staying warm and comfortable. The interiors are nothing short of spectacular and can be the next dream location for your instagram feed. The food menu is mouth-watering and the drinks are on point, the perfect spot for a great night out!
