After the overwhelming response I got for my previous article about the best cruises in Australia I decided I’d make a part two, but this time solely about lunch cruises. The thing about a lunch cruise is that it is the ultimate way to witness some of the finest sights of the place you're in, whether Sydney, Gold Coast or Perth. While the general idea behind such cruises are evident, not all of them are the same. I have backpacked across the Land Down Under many times now and have come across many lunch cruises that took me by surprise. Check them out below.

Lunch cruises on Sydney Harbour

This list is not in any order but if it was, the lunch cruise in Sydney would definitely claim the top spot. No other city can rival the natural beauty of Sydney and its massive harbour, which is also home to the iconic Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Luna Park and more. Although I was spoilt for choice when it came to choosing the vessel I decided I’d go with a luxury vessel, just for the premium experience, after all we’re in Sydney! The interiors on this beauty were out of this world, fully air-conditioned, climate-controlled and there were signs of incredible craftsmanship throughout the vessel. The ambience also did justice to the overall elegance of the vessel. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the vessel took off, and I was greeted by roving views of Sydney’s greatest icons, along with its rich harbourfront. Back inside the main course were about to be served and what a culinary experience it was - although I forgot the respective names - all of them tasted exactly how they looked, heavenly. And then the mouth-watering dessert, I couldn't have asked for a more fitting climax. That’s when I realised this Sydney Harbour cruise with quality lunch, impeccable views and a down-to-earth service might just be one of my new favourite pastimes.

Lunch cruises on Brisbane River

While we’ve been to Bribsane a couple of times, a lunch cruise was never on the cards. Amidst the rush of the city, we never go to check them out. Until last year. This was no ordinary lunch cruise! Apart from indulging in a sumptuous lunch and soaking up the most mind-blowing of landscapes, the cruise takes its passengers to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! While we enjoyed the riverfront attractions, the skipper enlightened us with his knowledge of the city and its upcoming, which was just as much as entertaining as it was informative. We arrived at the sanctuary in over an hour or so and got to explore the region for three hours! We didn't know where to begin with - the koalas or the kangaroos, or my now favourite shy platypus! And just like you thought we spent time with all of them, even hand fed the ‘roos, enjoyed a sheep shearing show, witnessed an amazing birds of prey display, and of course, cuddled a cute koala! The lunch and snacks were also decently priced, much to our surprise! There's no doubt we’ll do it again!

Lunch cruises on Swan River

Perth is one of those cities tucked away in the south-western region of Australia, on the banks of the Swan River. A lunch cruise here means we’ll be enjoying the best of Perth from its favourite vantage point, the jewel in its crown, the Swan River. This was for a casual business meeting so it had to be special. A truly unique experience, we sat back and marvelled at the extraordinary cityscapes, as the vessel slowly drifted away from the city and explored the river. It was shaping up to be an afternoon of enjoyment as we sipped on our wines and beers, before feasting on the hot buffet with a selection of summer salads! Safe to say, the guests were left speechless!
