Bored in Sydney? Believe it or not, it's not new. If you're looking for some motivation to turn off your PS5 and get off the couch, then this guide might come in handy. While Sydney is a massive city that’s on every backpacker’s bucket list, there are so many must-do’s in the city that you might end up confused on where to start. Having lived here for over 10 months, I can say there’s still more than half of the city I still haven’t touched about. So here goes some exciting ways to explore and enjoy the Emerald City, that is NOT boring.

Party with a bareboat rental

This list is in no order, but if it was, I’d suggest you go with this one first. The beauty about hiring your own boat and traversing the harbour waters on your own terms is that you can have the best time of your life in a private space, all the while staying in the middle of the city, by the iconic city skyline. A bareboat would usually come with just a skipper and a crew member, and is up for you to customise it the way you want it. While some of them offer food and drinks menus, most bare boat hire in Sydney have BYO options. You get to choose from a wide range of boats that fit your budget and capacity, tailor it to your preference and set sail on the high waters of Sydney Harbour. Now that’s a party! So head out and capitalise an awesome weekend with this incredible charter!

Hunt a souvenir

Drinks in the AM? Sounds like my kind of vibes. Couple of rounds of beer in some of the vintage pubs in The Rocks would set your day off nicely. While in the eyes of a resident The Rocks may seem like a shady tourist place, it does have some of the finest entertainment and shopping scenes in the city. With historic architecture, cobblestoned laneways, legendary pubs and rooftop bars, specialty tours, museums and souvenir shops, you can easily spend a day here. If you're looking for a unique souvenir that’s not found elsewhere or just want some cool jewellery or accessory, head to the weekend market next to Circular Quay. You might even stumble across some unique artefacts that trace back to the darker days of the city!

Movie like no other

Nights in Sydney are a thing of beauty. If you have a date but run out of date ideas, then do the ol’ movie night out. Yes, you’ve done it a hundred times, but a movie night date is something that never goes out of style, especially in Sydney when you have tons of options. Golden Age is one of those joints that doesn’t do the usual popcorn and movie. Located in the Commonwealth Street of Surry hills, this is an old-school cinema and bar with cosy screenings, awesome drinks and even live entertainment at times to keep things nice and chill. The ambience is unmatched and is the perfect place to catch a cult classic or immerse in films from the golden era.

Stuck in space

Alright, this can also be checked off as a romantic date idea. If you want to be mesmerised by what's outside the Earth and take a look at some interesting outer-space objects, head to Sydney Observatory. It’s a cool way to spend time with the universe and a reminder for everyone that there’s always a larger picture in the background. The expert guides will give you insights on the workings of outer space, its connection with humans and how the Earth has evolved over the course of time! So head out and watch the stars together!
