You don't wanna mess with airport security.

There are a few things that you should not bring on any flight. It is a known fact that bringing weapons of any kind on a flight is a very bad idea with severe consequences. You will go to jail. Also, bringing pets is another no go. You don’t want to have to deal with a barking dog or meowing cat. Avoid bringing liquids too. These will be taken away at the security part of the airport. There have been cases of terrorist trying to bring in liquid bombs. Lastly, avoid bringing lighters and sharp objects on planes. This is a given as you will be searched and questioned for bringing flammables. Overall, follow these flight etiquette rules and you will not be punished for your actions.

Bringing a weapon on a plane means automatic jail time. It’s not a great idea and you should never do it. The security team will knock you off your butt and arrest you within seconds of finding a weapon. Security in airports is stronger than ever. And there are airport security checks with more careful and strict rules because of the tension and terrorism going on in the world today. It can be a real pain in the neck to go through customs at an airport, and you’re only going to make matters worse if you attempt to bring the wrong things on an airplane when entering a new country or coming back into the US. In fact, customs officers are going to check through all of your belongings with a fine tooth comb to prevent you from bringing dangerous items with you on an airplane. With that said, pay attention to important air travel tips that tell you what you shouldn’t bring on an airplane. By following this guide, you’ll avoid unnecessary aggravation and your trip will indeed go smoothly.

Another one mentioned above is lighters and flammable liquids. This is a pretty obvious one that everyone should know but some smokers tend to forget to take out lighters of their carry on luggage. If you have matches, lighters, or lighter fluid, make sure to take them out of your luggage before you get to security. They will not be happy with you wasting their time. Customs officers like to get things moving without many delays. This will slow down the security check process and result in a delay. Just take the time and look through your pockets, carry on luggage, etc. and make sure you don't have any lighters or flammable liquids.

To end off the big three, we have liquid bottles. This is not permissible on a flight due to terrorism. There have been incidents of liquid bombs attempted on a flight. So for the sake of the people, empty out your liquids and don't scare the folks working in security. This will lead to a safer and happier experience going through customs and flying. Don't forget to drink your liquids before going through security. All your bottles will be taken away.

There are many items that are not hazardous or prohibited that you can carry either in checked baggage, in carry-on baggage, or on your person. However, if it is an item that is hard to replace, very expensive, or necessary for your health and well being, then you should never put it in checked baggage:

  • Money related items: Cash, credit cards, traveler's checks, blank checkbooks, securities, and anything else that has monetary value or should either be on your person or in your carry-on baggage. If you lose money-related items in your checked baggage, airlines are not obligated to compensate you.
  • Jewelry: Necklaces, rings, diamonds, other precious stones, gold, silver, other precious metals, expensive watches, and other small and valuable items like these should also stay out of checked baggage. Like the situation with money, the airline isn't obligated to compensate you for the loss.
  • Laptops and electronic devices: Laptops, cell phones, and other small personal electronic devices should remain on your person or in your carry-on bags.
  • Medically related items: Prescription medication, other medications, and other medical items should remain with you in the cabin.
The following items are not allowed on a flight. Keep this list handy when flying and share with all your travel friends.
