Traveling the High Seas

Traveling the high seas has become more and more popular over the course of more than two decades. Traveling on the high seas has become one of the biggest forms of vacationing worldwide. From millennials to the mature traveler, taking the high seas is both enjoying, relaxing, and entertaining. Where else can you get multiple vacations in one spot? No other place than a cruise ship, will give you the entertainment, luxury accommodations, beautiful and fun-filled excursions, along with the most extraordinary scenery in the world.

Finding the Right Cruise

Before hitting the sea, you must find out what type of cruise you may want to take. There are several types of cruise ships, itineraries, and locations to choose from when taking your fantastic voyage. Travelers can take an exciting Bermuda cruise adventure or visit far away lands of romance such as Villefranche, France. Whatever the location you choose, you are sure to make incredible lifetime memories.

When selecting a cruise line, there are some things you may want to consider. You may want to consider what type of travelers you will be with. If you are a first time cruiser, you may want to focus on a line that is specifically for newbies. If you are interested in cruising with couples, seniors, or families make sure that you do your research to find which cruise line offers like-minded travelers as yourself.

Make sure you get to know all about ship size, because depending on the size of the ship, determines the type of itinerary, activities, and entertainment you will have on board and offshore. Below is a list of different ship sizes and a few tips to go along with them:

  • Mega Ships - These liners will have the most up to date technology, a general amount of food and entertainment venues, and can cater to families. The downside, because it is larger there are more passengers and the need for reserving access to all of the fun. In addition, you may want to watch your budget and think about porting (larger ships have limited porting locations).
  • Large Ships - Can house up to 3,499 passengers and is similar to mega ships. One exception however, large ships are more apt to have better deals because they are order and refurbished accommodations.
  • Midsize Ships - Will have 1,500 to 2,499 passengers. Typically on the cheaper side of traveling the seas. Some ships may even have a more eclectic itinerary than the mainstream mega and large ships.
  • Small Mid Size Ships - Will be on the more expensive and upscale side of high sea traveling. These types of ships are more on the romantic side, so you may see more of the mature traveler or couples.
  • Small Ships - Will cater to a more luxurious and pricey traveler. With smaller passenger capacity (799 to be exact) these ships you will find in more remote areas. Entertainment and dining is limited also due to its size.

Another important tip is determining the best time for you and/or your family to travel the high seas. Depending on the region you plan on traveling to, will determine when it is the best time to take that much awaited for cruise. As with any vacationing location, you have high and low seasons. As a fare warning the best time to travel (high season) may be on the more expensive side. If you want to watch your wallet, then the best time to travel will be during the low season. The low season will have discounts and perks due to the low demand to travel.

Relax, Enjoy, and Have Fun

There are always pros and cons when it comes to planning a vacation, and sailing the high seas is no different. The best and greatest tip, do you RESEARCH. Find out what the weather is like in the region you are traveling to, nothing is worse than a vacation spoiled by unexpected weather or bad timing. Above all make sure that you enjoy your cruise on the high seas and make every moment memorable. Happy Hunting!!
