First Morning in Reykjavík
I didn’t think I’d get much done or see a lot, but I did. I had a comfortable night in my pod at Galaxy. I woke up at six, but I didn’t get out of bed until nine. After my shower, strawberries, and porridge for breakfast, I walked around the area. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, I was hoping today that I would have a look around the area to get my bearings.

So just about two hours ago I set foot in Iceland for the first time. As of writing, I am in my shuttle bus that is going to be taking me to my hostel. This is my second time traveling abroad on my own, but with meeting up with friends and in tour groups, I’m never really alone. Iceland is one of the countries I’ve always wanted to go to and now I can cross it off my bucket list.

Katie HainesPublished 5 years ago in WanderHow to Start Learning a New Language: French
French is a language spoken in many regions and countries around the world with various dialects and vocabulary. The one thing I love about the French language is it has so many connections to Latin, and Latin is a whole other adventure of its own. If you want to be able to expand your French knowledge, learning Latin can always be super beneficial to the learning process overall. Also, it could help you build in enough skills for yourself to be able to speak MULTIPLE languages!

I’m not supposed to go to Capri until tomorrow—with the group, but... we have a free day and the anticipation of this magical, exclusive place is eating away at a few of us. For the sake of our internal organs and mental health, we go ROUGE and jump on a bus from Agerola to Amalfi, to then catch a ferry to CAPRI! #naughtysmack 👋
Venice at a Glance
Ahhh, Venice. Beauty, culture, romance, on paper it has it all and can truly be paradise for some of the locals. However, the amount of tourists greatly outweighs the amount of locals, and it shows.

Many people will tell you, “I have to see Paris before I die.” I was never one with those exact words on my lips, but I did have a deep interest in French (and Parisian) culture, and to satisfy both my scholastic and multicultural leanings, I enrolled in the prestigious Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS Paris)—the only residential college of high acclaim in downtown Paris.
Peterlee—the Lesser Known of the Post-War 'New Towns'
If you ever find yourself in the North East of England, almost every town and village you’ll pass will most likely have some connection to the rich coal mining history. Some of these places still have ‘colliery’ in their title and the days of the pits are still fresh in the minds of many in these parts. In the centre of all of these mining villages lies a town which didn’t have its own coal mine. This town is Peterlee.
