We’re taking the backroads through Williston and Blackville, Denmark and Bamberg. We’re going to slip down the Piedmont to the Coastal Plain on a two-lane blacktop. You’ll know when it happens, the land leveling out from those long, steep hills on 28, the ones that crest so high you can see into the next county.

A Day In Settle
Introduction Settle is a favourite holiday haunt of ours. The first time we stayed we brought a car. It was parked, and it never moved til we left. Since then we have stayed for a week or two each year, getting there by train from Newcastle to Carlisle, then Carlisle to Settle over the Ribblehead Viaduct.

A Bit Of The Titanic In Alnwick
Introduction Fiona told me that the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick contained some artefacts from the RMS Olympic which was the sister ship to the Titanic. On checking It turns out that the main dining room (Olympic Restaurant) is effectively the First Class Lounge from the ship which is identical to the one on the Titanic.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) — “Family resemblance unclear, but strong presence.” Visited the Statue of Zeus at Olympia after receiving surprising DNA ancestry results suggesting a possible connection to Zeus through a half-mortal lineage about 94 generations ago. Apparently, I am related to Helen of Troy, Zeus' daughter via a swan incident and the woman who accidentally caused a war in her time and most recently - Elon Musk's wrath.

The problem with you lost travelers is that you never know the highest quality of either the sheep or the gold-gathering fleece.
