This gorgeous city is built on an incredible harbourfront known for its yacht-studded harbour, iconic coastal walks, picturesque beaches, national parks and trendy bars/restaurants. Here are some ideas to get to know some of the unexpected sides of the city!

Hyde Park

Sydney has a lot of options when it comes to national parks but the ambience exuded in the famous Hyde Park is second to none. It is Australia’s oldest national park, right in the heart of the city and has several lawns, picnic spots, fountains, fig trees, and graceful flowers. Perfect for unwinding, the city workers come here at lunch to kick off their shoes, also setting the stage for people watching. The park is also home to a range of historical monuments and other significant buildings like the three towering Georgian Buildings in the northern end of the park and the Art Deco War memorial in the southern half of the park. On its eastern side you can also come across the Australian Museum with the largest natural history collection in Australia.

Beaches

Dotted throughout its vast coastline, the city has some of the best beaches in the world with calm waters and golden sands and the best part about them is that they are not very far from the city centre. With a great surf scene, a buzzing restaurant & cafe culture and a lively atmosphere, the iconic Bondi Beach is only less than 15 min away from the city. It is also the start point for the famous Bondi to Coogee Beach, along the cliffs.
