If you got:

Mostly A you got AMRITSTAR, INDIA

Image by Richard Mcall from Pixabay

Home to the spectacular Golden Temple, Amristar is the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh religion in India. This is the place for the cultured nomad. The people of Punjab are unbelievably warm and kind. It’s a lively, fun city to explore. From watching the border closing ceremony with Pakistan to tasting as much temping Punjab food as you possibly can to exploring the bustling bazaar, there’s much to see and do here!

Mostly B you got ARUGAM BAY, SRI LANKA

It is a gorgeous, popular little coastal town where you can chill out in a hammock under the palm trees looking out to the beach. Known for its brilliant surf, delicious fresh seafood, and relaxing yoga classes, this surfers paradise is perfect for the laid-back nomad. When you need a little more excitement, there’s the opportunity to escape to the jungle for a weekend and to enjoy the fun post-surf party scene by night.

Mostly C you got POKHARA, NEPAL

Image by Deep Ghotane from Pixabay

A casual, cool lakeside town surrounded by the snow-capped Annapurna mountains is the place for the outdoorsy nomad. Nepal’s trekking hub is famous for fantastic views and incredible hikes of the Annapurna circuit. If that’s not enough for you, choose from a ridiculously long list of adventure activities available to you, such as bungee-jumping, zip-lining, para-gliding, mountain biking, white water rafting, and canyoning. When you’re all tuckered out from those adventures, enjoy lakeside walks and cozy cafes.

Final Thoughts

All three places have something extraordinary to offer, for example:

  • Standing in awe at the Golden Temple in Amritsar
  • Finding freedom surfing waves in a tropical paradise in Arugam Bay
  • Trekking the stunning Himalayas in Pokhara

I believe there’s something for everyone in South Asia. I loved my time there. Particular highlights for me were the madness of the border closing ceremony in Amristar and the thrill of paragliding and sharing a thermal with birds of prey above Phewa Lake in Pokhara.

Of course, these aren’t the only options; there are so many beautiful South Asia places to travel to and live in. These are examples to think about what’s important to you in terms of activities, food, and nightlife, to name a few.

If you would like to look at these places in more detail and have access to all sorts of metrics to compare locations, I highly recommend the Nomad List website.
