Palms Casino Resort

Located west of the Las Vegas Strip, roughly a 10 to 15-minute drive, Palms Casino Resort lets you enjoy everything that Vegas has to offer from fine dining to entertainment, and gaming. With their recent $690 million renovation Palms, Casino Resort has completed one of Las Vegas's most stunning, property-wide makeovers, and ushering in the next era of gaming and entertainment in Vegas. From the resort’s collection of new award-winning restaurants, expanded gaming spaces, luxurious rooms and suites, one-of-a-kind entertainment venues, museum-worthy contemporary art program, and world-class musical residencies, the completely reimagined property guarantees to deliver an experience that transcends the expected Strip formula.

History

Originally owned and operated by the Maloof Family, and primarily overseen by George Maloof. He purchased the area in 1997, and began construction three years later, to what is known as Palms. The Palms opened on November 15, 2001, under Station Casinos. It included restaurants, nightclubs, casinos, and a 42-story hotel. The resort catered to local residents and tourists, and also became popular among celebrities and young adults. It has made several television appearances and was the main setting for the 2002 reality television show The Real World Las Vegas.

In 2005, they opened a second hotel tower called the Fantasy Tower, reaching 40-stories high. From then on, they added a recording studio, opened a Playboy Club, a music venue, and opened a high-rise condo hotel called Palms Place.

The Palms was sold in 2011 to Texas Pacific Group and Leonard Green & Partners due to financial difficulty during the Great Recession. To help restore the property's popularity a $50 million renovation took place in 2012. Four years later, Red Rock Resorts, the parent company of Station Casinos, purchased the Palms for $312.5 million. Soon after, they launched a $620 million renovation which included new restaurants and nightclubs, but the changes failed to restore the resort's past prominence.

In March of 2020, The Palms and other Las Vegas casinos were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One year later Red Rock sold the resort for $650 million to the Ssan Manuel Band of Mission Indians, which reopened on April 27, 2022. Under the new ownership, the Palms is the first Native American-owned and operated Las Vegas casino resort.
