Australia is a wonderful country for many reasons and one of those reasons is definitely the opportunity we have to enjoy amazing hikes in the wild and admire unique landscapes. Many tourists around the world come to Australia specifically to experience its incredible hiking trails. Even if you haven't considered trying something like that so far, maybe this list of most amazing Aussie hiking trails will change your mind:

1. Great Ocean Walk

This beautiful hiking trail is 104 kilometers long. It starts in Apollo Bay, leads you through eucalyptus and gum forest then takes you to Cape Otway Lightstation, only to show you sand dunes and magnificent beaches surrounded by cliffs.

There are even a couple of shipwrecks you'll come across and some great pics you'll make of the Twelve Apostles (limestone sea stacks). You can choose whether to walk on your own or to have a guided tour. If you decide to go on your own, you can count on a shuttle service transporting gear available at every stop.

2. The Blue Mountains

This is probably the most popular mountain range in Australia because it's very close to the Australian capital, Sydney. There you can enjoy the beauties of this huge national park, such as rugged peaks, high cascading waterfalls and mysterious canyons.

The Blue Mountains offer more than 140 kilometers of various trails that differ in difficulty. It is a part of the incredible and massive Great Dividing Range that has been boasting about its World Heritage status since 2000. Almost everything that Australia is famous and unique for can be seen if you opt for one of the long hiking trails in this magnificent region.

3. Grampians

The Grampians region offers several trails of different intensity and landscapes. If you want to test your strength and stamina, do it through a hike through the Grand Canyon that ends up at the Pinnacle or opt for a hike through woodland where you'll have a magnificent view of Mount Abrupt.

If you are looking for a lighter trail, then choose the one that leads you to breath-taking Mackenzie Falls or the one that will reward you with a view of Victoria Valley.

You can even follow the marked trail that leads you through the Grampians National Park and allows you to enjoy the streams and gorges surrounding you. You can even opt for a two or three day hiking experience that will introduce you to most of the region's beauties like the ones offered in Life's An Adventure guided tours.

4. Lamington

Lamington region is spread across 20,000 hectares and it offers more than 15 hiking trails. Whichever hiking trail you choose, you will definitely come across creeks and waterfalls and make your way through the rainforest, and lava columns.

If you enjoy waterfalls and taking magical pictures of them, then you should choose the Toolona Circuit. It is a 17.4 kilometers long trail that will allow you to enjoy 13 incredible waterfalls, but also the amazing groves of Antarctic Beech trees you will come across.

If you are eager to have a swim in a waterhole somewhere in the wilderness, then choose one of the trails that lead you to the Blue Pool. The clear water and the cascades will create a unique experience and allow for some great pics.

Lastly, Moonlight Crag is at the end of a short walk that will provide you with an amazing view of the Lost World Plateau, which includes Albert River valley, Mt Razorback, as well as Mt Worendo. The sunset at this lookout is so popular that even weddings ceremonies are held there due to its romantic setting.

5. Tasmania

Tasmania is a magical region, and its Overland Track may be one of the best bushwalks in the world. Its landscape will remind you of New Zealand and Switzerland, as you will have the feeling you are up there in the Alps. Cascading waterfalls, clean mountain streams, and colorful meadows—this combination creates a unique experience for anybody who steps on that trail. A 65-kilometer long trail will take you to another world although you know you are in Down Under. As you will be offered to get comfortable huts as a form of accommodation, it is clear that this track offers a perfect combination of comfort and adventure.
