The sun is up, the sky is clear, summer is at its peak, and everywhere is so hot. You must be thinking this is the perfect time to plan an epic pool party or just a fun pool day with your friends. Everyone loves to go to the pool on a hot day, so, why not?! But before you start passing out invitations, check out these easy steps to make the most out of your pool day besides just swimming.

Instead of ruining your pool party, follow these easy steps.

1. Make DIY drinks and cocktails

Close your eyes and imagine. You are relaxing on a cozy sun lounger beside your pool, enjoying the hot summer sun, your shades on, and a glass of fresh, homemade chilled drink or cocktail in your hands. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the pool! Remember, everywhere is going to be hot! And you are more likely to be dehydrated. Trust me, with all the fun you are going to have, you won’t know when your throats start drying up, and you don’t want the pool water to be the only liquid around. So, always keep you and your friends hydrated with some healthy, easy-to-make DIY drinks. Here are some suggestions of refreshing drinks you can make for your pool day;

  • Mexican mojito.
  • Frozen margarita.
  • Tropical coconut rum punch.
  • Dirty martini.
  • And some fruit juices such as apple, orange, and lemon.

2. Buy waterproof cases to protect your devices

Let’s say you are in the pool with your friends trying to go live on Instagram or make a Tiktok video and accidentally, your phone slips out of your hands and falls into the pool. What a great way to ruin a fun pool day. I can’t say this enough, YOU CANT HAVE THE MOST FUN WITHOUT HAVING MEMORIES TO REMINISCE ON LATER! Document the best moments of the pool with a waterproof phone case and show the entire world you are having the time of your life without damaging your precious device in the process.

If you are interested in getting one, there are lots of phone cases on Amazon, eBay, and other online stores. But these are one of the best out there. With just $10-$12, you can get a universal waterproof float case compatible with all your iPhone and Samsung devices.

After your amazing pool party, you can share all captured fun you had with your friends and family.

3. Plan out fun pool games and activities to try with your friends

Fun pool games and activities are a sure bet to enjoying your pool party. Pool games and activities bring everybody together and also set a competitive atmosphere, who wouldn’t want to win and go home with lots of bragging rights?

When planning out pool games try to get a little laid back and bring out your inner childlike cravings and have fun! Water balloon fights, duck duck goose and squirt guns aren’t restricted to any age and should be enjoyed by all. If you also want to up your entertainment scale, try out games structured in teams like water basketball, poolside volleyball, beach ball, water polo and so many others. You can also try individual games that allow everyone to showcase their best talents and skills. For example, diving contests, diving board charades, cannonball contests, or even swimming races. You can also try out Tiktok pool challenges.

Whatever games and activities you choose or plan out, remember to have fun with them and always try to accommodate everyone. It won’t be fun if some friends are left out.

4. Make a playlist!

Summer is all about fun, so your pool party needs a lit playlist. I personally always have a playlist for every occasion, work, a get-together, a long bath, a boring lecture, trying to avoid listening to my annoying neighbors, and most especially a PARTY! Music always sets the mood for every event and I can’t imagine a party set up with no music at all; certainly, the vibe would be missing.

A good playlist would set a connection among you, your friends, and your invites, so pick out one that is inclusive and fun. Pop, Jazz, funk, rock, RnB, afro beats, dancehall. You can choose whatever genre suits your earbuds. Just remember, music has the power to set up your tone and make the atmosphere fun and lively, so it’s up to you to decide and select songs that’ll crank up your entertainment.

Also, to play the music loud enough get yourself some good wireless speakers, and don’t just depend on your phones alone. You can get these online on Amazon and eBay. They can also come waterproof. So pick out those that suit your pool-themed party. Make sure to turn down your noise levels, you don’t want some unexpected visits.

5. Safety first

Since you are trying to have the most fun on your pool day, your safety should be your top priority. Remember, it’s not a solo party. Your friends, family or even strangers will be present. As the host, their safety should be your top responsibility. According to the CDC, there are about 3,960 fatal unintentional drownings per year, including swimming-related injuries, an average of 11 drowning deaths per day and about an average of 22 non-fatal drownings per day in the United States alone. This shouldn’t scare you from having fun but simultaneously think about your safety and the safety of others. You can start by making sure there are enough floaties around, have some prior knowledge of first aid and CPR, always know the emergency numbers of your town, and also try to be as observant as you can on that day. That being said, ensure FUN and SAFETY are your prime concern so everyone can enjoy your epic pool party.

In summary, summer remains the best time to go swimming, so make the most of it. Make sure to plan everything out on time, send invitations early, and get everything set before that day. Don’t overstress, relax and have a great time at the pool.
