A thousand years ago, they say, a great king named Thpapa was taught the vision of the divine cross to lead his people on a journey back to their homeland.

Historians believe that the Sherpas were nomadic herdsmen who were sent to their first country in eastern Tibet by fighting the people between the twelfth and fifteenth centuries AD. Ethnic Sherpas inhabit the mountains of the Solhumbu Valley Valley in Nepal, and the oldest community is in the Pangboche valley. Despite the unseen by Westerners, during the last century, the Sherpas became famous for their work as carriers and guides for hiking in Nepal, Tibet, India, and Pakistan.
