Toyota continued to manufacture vehicles for Japanese forces even during World War, the company developed a prototype based on the requirements but the Toyota prototype was preceded by another Japanese company, Mitsubshi.

that is, Toyota's prototype was rejected , but Toyota did not give up and in 1951 developed a new prototype with more features than ever before , this model was named "Toyota Jeep BJ"

Toyota's model rose to prominence,when, during a test drive, the vehicle demonstrated excellent off-roading capability , easily clearing 6 checkpoints on Mount Fuji and reached an altitude of 8,200 feet , at the time, it was the first vehicle to reach such heights ,inspired by this test drive.

Japan's NPA immediately ordered the company to manufacture 289 such vehicles , initially the vehicle was used by the forces , Toyota changed its off-roader model and started regular production for the general public , with the increase in sales, the car became very popular , but Toyota was sued by Willys, the company that first developed the "Jeep" for using the name "Jeep" for trademark violation.

Toyota changed the name of this particular model in 1954 from "Toyota Jeep BJ" to "Land Cruiser".
