Bangkok is a city that can be delightful no matter the budget, from bedazzling five-star hotels to backpacker-friendly hostels. You can feast on street food while walking around the city or dress up and visit a Michelin-starred restaurant for an exquisite fine dining experience. You can walk around and visit the local markets or treat yourself to a day of pampering at a luxury spa. With endless options, let's explore how you can spend three unforgettable days in Bangkok.

Where to Stay

When choosing a place to stay in Bangkok you will have plenty of options to select from. It is advisable to stay somewhere centrally located in the city that has easy access to all the sites and places you want to check out in Bangkok. If you are travelling with a group of friends, an ideal option is to stay at Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 Bangkok which offers many different types of rooms, studios and luxury serviced apartments in Bangkok. The property offers many amenities such as a fitness area, a resident’s lounge and a rooftop pool.

Day 1

Start your day early and head out to explore Thailand’s cultural heritage. Your first stop should be the Grand Palace Complex, a bedazzling masterpiece of Thai architecture and art, and the former residence of the Thai Royal Family. Then visit Wat Pho, known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, where you can see the famous reclining Buddha covered in gold leaf. Remember to dress appropriately as it is a religious site with a strict dress code.

For lunch, enjoy traditional Thai food at one of the nearby riverside restaurants. After lunch, visit The Museum of Siam, an interactive museum nearby. Then, cross the river to visit Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, famous for its 70-meter-high mosaic spire. You can climb up to experience an amazing view over the river.

In the evening, end your day with a Chao Phraya river cruise and dinner buffet, a perfect way to see the illuminated temples along the river and the skyline at night. Alternatively, take a boat ride to Asiatique night market to explore shops, stalls, enjoy street food and drinks.

Day 2

For your second day in Bangkok, head out to explore the city's floating markets, where you can taste different types of street food and shop for great bargains and souvenirs. Start by visiting Damnoen Saduak floating market, where vendors sell their goods from boats in the canals, offering everything from snacks to souvenirs. Then, check out the Maeklong railway market, where vendors pack up their stalls as trains pass through the market.

In the afternoon, visit a few museums such as the Jim Thompson House Museum or the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre. If you're up for partying the night away, head down to Sukhumvit Road to experience Bangkok’s vibrant nightlife. There are many popular bars, pubs, and nightclubs.

Day 3

On your last day in Bangkok, start by visiting the ancient city of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about an hour and a half away from the city, making it an ideal day trip. Explore the historical site, which features ruins of temples, palaces, and statues.

Consider other day trips to Kanchanaburi, Khao Yai National Park, or even Pattaya Beach. After returning to the city, head to the entertainment district of Siam, where you'll find Bangkok's largest shopping malls for some shopping.End your day in Bangkok's Chinatown, surrounded by dangling red lanterns, neon lights, and the aroma of sizzling foods.  Make sure to sample as much of the culture as possible to get an all-encompassing experience of Thailand's largest city!
