If you are someone planning to fly to the Maldives for your next vacation, make sure that you have gone through this article before you go for the pre-arrangements. The Maldives is a great choice for a dreamy vacation, and be it an official, romantic, or a family getaway, this country has all of that what you'll be looking for. Mistakes can happen when you are planning a tour, but this article will surely help you avoid most of them.

Planning the duration of your stay

Well, this is not applicable for official visits that you go on because it's the companies that decide the tour duration in most of the cases. But, if it's a honeymoon or a family getaway that you are planning, note that you have to avoid staying too many days in this country. Spending 4-5 days in the Maldives will be enough, and if you plan to stay for a week or more, then please do reserve two hotels located on two different islands. Yes, this is an expensive option, but in reality, you can do everything that you need to do in the Maldives within 4-5 days, and you'll simply get bored of the same atmosphere after then.

Spend enough on your accommodation

In the Maldives, budget accommodation options are rare. So, make sure you don't expect it either. There are many great resort options the likes of Adaaran Prestige Water Villas and the hospitality services you come across at those resorts are worth your spending. If you are planning your honeymoon, be wise enough to choose a honeymoon package offered by these resorts, and they may include lovely surprises such as candlelit dinners, romantic cruise rides, and couple massage therapies for you and your partner.

Domestic transportation

Once you reach the Maldive via a flight to Male, transport from that point onwards needs to be sorted out. When you are booking your hotels, ask them whether they include airport transfers in their package (without an additional charge). This is very important because airport transfers are very expensive in the Maldives, and sometimes these rates can be quite steep. If the hotel does not provide you transfers, then you will have to look for a way to get to your hotel and this can be done by a speedboat or a seaplane. Needless to say, seaplanes are expensive (but ideal if your chosen island resort is located distantly), and you may consider the speedboats if your hotel is located close to Male.

Plan your meals before you go

Touring in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are quite different from touring in the Maldives for several reasons. Those countries do have a splendid street food culture, and travellers do have an unlimited choice when it comes to food. But, when in the Maldives, the food choice is very limited, and they can be quite expensive as well. So, do not rely on any other place for your dining purposes, and have all your meals at your chosen hotel. Do not worry, you will not get bored of it during your stay because traditional Maldivian dishes are tastier than you think!

Know your adventures

Do some research, and know about what you are going to do in the Maldives when you are there. If you are someone who loves adventure, you can engage in a wide range of water sports that includes kayaking, parasailing, surfing, and diving which are some of the most favourite things to do in Maldives. Before you go, have a rough idea about the expenses that you'll have to incur to try out these water sports, and their durations as well.
