The thing about the Maldives is that although it may seem like there’s nothing much to do on the islands but lounge on the beach for days on end this is not the case. There is much to be done in the Maldives and you would need some time to do it. But if time is not on your side and you only have about four days in paradise you should stick to one island. Here are some great recommendations.

Male Island

Male is one of the best islands to spend a short holiday in the Maldives. As the capital city and main island, you will find that it is wonderfully equipped with all facilities you would require. Keep in mind that as it is not a resort island there are certain rules you should adhere to. These would include dressing conservatively. The main island also does not do any pork dishes or serve alcohol. But it is a great place to visit if you would like to learn about the history and Muslim culture of the Maldives and how it has shaped the archipelago.

Baros Island

One of the best resort islands for couples is those such as Baros Maldives. Many couples look for such places to renew their vows or have an idyllic destination wedding. You will often feel like you are the only two people in the world when holidaying on an island like this and the staff will make it so you are well pampered. Go for couple spa sessions and spend days on end exploring the island or basking in the sun. You can get some outdoor dining dates arranged with the hotel right on the beach by candlelight.

Mirihi Island

If you are looking for things to do in Maldives as a family, you can head out to Mirihi Island for a getaway that can be punctuated with plenty of watersports and diving adventure. If you aren’t well versed with diving, you can always attend a couple of classes and get your diving certificate. If the deep sea is not your thing you can always opt for shallow water snorkelling. Thanks to the bountiful marine life all resort islands are surrounded by rich waters waiting for you and your family to explore.

Huvahendhoo Island

Islands the likes of Huvahendhoo Island are all equipped with the best in luxurious facilities and amenities that you will find are there for you and your loved ones to feel utterly relaxed and pampered. The opulence is one of the main reasons why the Maldives is considered the number one location for honeymooners around the world. People flock here from all over for a couple of days in the sun being treated like complete royalty. It is an experience that everyone should have on their bucket list.

Rangali Island

Islands like Rangali Island are great for snorkelling enthusiast. The Maldives is a biosphere reserve according to UNESCO and houses some unique coral formations as well as being home to all five species of saltwater turtle. The formations that created the atolls are unique and as such the rich waters are home to a plethora of marine life. If you want to spend your time in nature you can explore the coral reefs and go diving as well. There are turtle sanctuaries on some islands that accept volunteers. You can learn more about how to give back to Mother Nature while having a great holiday in paradise. The best time to go if marine life is what you want to see is during the months of July to August.
