What does Thailand mean to you? If you aren’t too familiar with what being in Thailand feels like, consider reading up online and you will soon be presented with a kaleidoscope of warm, friendly people, breathtaking landscapes, appealing tourist sites, aromatic cuisine and so much more! Should you be stirred to take on everything that Thailand has in store for intrepid travellers, then consider the following information that will better equip you long before the day dawns where you will have to leave for the airport.

Visas

Obtaining a visa to Thailand will hardly have you pulling out your hair or feeling a tad frustrated as to most, the process of documentation can be quite the mood killer. Visa upon arrival is the norm here and if you happen to be a national of an ASEAN country, you will be the recipient of a 30-day visa absolutely free. Alternatively, should your travels in the country see you staying on for longer than a month, then tender an application to the Thai embassy in your home country for the purpose of obtaining a 6-month visa.

Travel Insurance

Thailand is abundant with leisure facilities and adventures that at times will be too good to be true. However, it is a wise practice to bring along adequate travel insurance just so that you are safeguarded against the risk of any mishap having a detrimental effect on your travel plans. Policies from Safety Wing are convenient as they provide monthly plans for the frequent traveller in you. Also, World Nomads comes across as your ‘go to’ insurance provider as a majority of leisure activities will be covered by such policies.

Plan well

Whether you want to spend a majority of your time out in the tropical seas of the country, scuba diving or snorkelling, scouring the busy streets of Bangkok in search of local fare & souvenirs, or wish to surround yourself in the majesty & solace of temples or ‘Wats’, having a plan is crucial. This would apply especially if you are a first-time visitor as the entirety of Thailand may overwhelm you. Thus, be sure to have a checklist to rely on where you can also have options for accommodation penned down such as, for instance, Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre, which is a hotel Khon Kaen worth considering.

Cover the popular areas of the country

Look to the country’s capital of Bangkok that features various aspects of Thai culture which must be experienced. Bangkok is vibrant, loud yet complete with shades of tradition as per the landmarks of the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the mesmeric Chao Phraya River that tell its own story. For a completely different take on Thailand, consider making a beeline towards the north and to those areas referred to as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai. Chiang Rai and Pai are strewn with mountains and lush green jungle that would surely whet your appetite for exploration and leisure. If it’s the thought of a trekking expedition or the adrenaline rush of white water rafting which has drawn you towards holidaying in Thailand, then the northern mountains would appear worthy of one’s time and energy. Not to be outdone in terms of scenic appeal and variety are the stunning isles of Koh Phangan, Koh Lanta, Koh Tao, and Koh Samui. The thrills and spills of Thailand’s beach life will be on show throughout these isles with opportunities to dive with bull sharks in Koh Phangan and also to partake in an Open Water Scuba Diving course in Koh Tao serving up a semblance of what passionate travellers like yourself will be subjected to should you choose to venture out to these parts.

Food

An integral part of Thailand is its diverse and spicy cuisine which will surely have you coming back for more in an instant. When residing or travelling in some of the big cities such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai, one will have access to a range of meals and aromas that would coax you into remaining for that much longer in Thailand. Areas such as Chatuchak Weekend Market must be given a go for some of the finest street food. Specialties such as pad thai, green papaya salad, and mango sticky rice will make for quite the hearty meal indeed.
