There’s nothing more comfortable than having a routine, but sometimes, you've just got to break free and do something crazy to feel alive. Need a break? Book a last minute vacation. Spontaneity can feel amazing and liberating, but there are still a couple of things you need to do before hopping on a plane and having the time of your life. You need to pick a destination, find the right accommodation, pack and buy tickets, and all that in a very short time. Here’s how to take care of all the technicalities without stress and have a dream getaway.

Find Your Destination

Once you decide to go on a vacation on a whim, don’t get too picky when it comes to the destination. There are probably places you want to visit on your bucket list, but don’t strictly concentrate on them. Every destination is beautiful in its own way and there are adventures and new things to see anywhere you go. If you’re traveling on a budget, make the location with great deals your priority. Once you decide on the location, make sure to check it out and find sites you should see and places you should visit while there. All in all, concentrate on having a good time instead of finding a perfect destination.

Get a Room

Booking a room at the last minute is stressful; there’s no other way to put it. However, there are a few tricks you can use to get yourself a great deal. For instance, don’t focus only on big hotel chains, but consider cheap hostels as well, and you might end up with an AMAZING room! And if you’re brave enough, try couch surfing and you might even make some awesome friends. You can also check out AirBnB, but take everything you see in the photographs with a grain of salt.

Tickets, anyone?

If you want the best deal for your flight, then let smart technology help you. Personally, Hopper helped me through many a flight and is super easy to use. It gives you various prices for your desired destination over the next six months, so if you’re a bit more flexible with the date, definitely check it out. It can also tell you if the price is expected to drop or rise, so you know exactly when to buy and it can even find the airport with the cheapest tickets.

Use Digital Currency

Online travel-booking sites offer cheaper tickets and other services if you choose to pay with digital currencies. So, if you’re planning to make your last minute trip on a tight budget, it’s a good idea to buy digital currency and then make your necessary arrangements. And since the market for cryptocurrency is constantly rising, you might even earn some money in the future.

Don’t Forget About the Necessities

Once you have a destination, accommodations, and tickets ready, it’s time to pack. You might think this is the easiest part (and it is, if you’re well organized and your passport is up-to-date), but most often it doesn’t pass without some stress. The first thing you need to check is your passport. Hopefully, it’s renewed well in advance, since most countries require you to have at least six months remaining in order to enter their territory. However, if your passports about to expire or, even worse, you can’t find it, don’t panic just yet. There are agencies that can get you a new passport in just a week, so make sure to check your documents in advance. Also, keep an eye on the weather at your destination, pack accordingly and sparingly. You want to feel free and careless, and you can’t do that with two full suitcases. Additionally, arrange the transport to the airport and from the airport to your hotel in advance. This way, you’ll avoid scams and pay a fair price. And lastly, pack your medication and make sure to check whether you can enter the destination country with your meds.

Hopefully, these tips will help you have an amazing last-minute trip with no setbacks or stress. Bon voyage!
