Australia at Its Finest
Experiencing the Central Coast
The Central Coast is one of the most prominent parts of the much-loved New South Wales region of Australia. This coastal region is widely famous for its surf, beaches, hinterland, and relaxing atmosphere; it is picturesque and boasts serenity and beauty. In order for you to really enjoy its magic, we've come up with this guide that will help you experience its true charm.
Ettalong Beach
Within walking distance from Ettalong Village, lies the Ettalong beach, situated on the gorgeous Central Coast peninsula. It features all the necessary picnic, barbecue, and toilet facilities for a fantastic and relaxing getaway. Additionally, the area has its very own shopping centre that hosts many accommodations, such as a caravan park, post office, small supermarket, chemist, a variety of restaurants and cafes, bread, and cake shops, and even a news agency. In addition to visiting village markets that share a unique charm, you can ferryboat to Palm Beach and back.
Warrah Trig Cycling Loop
The scenic views at Warrah lookout are among the most prominent features that this national park has to offer. The best part here is that the number of cool spots to chill at is so huge, that you can always feel free to do as much or as little as you like—perfectly convenient for everyone! A relaxing picnic lunch in the famous wildflower fields are obligatory here, but be sure not to miss out on birdwatching here. In fact, the 270 native animal species in the park are something to keep an eye out for; with a bit of luck, you’ll come across a koala or two, or at least a kangaroo.
Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park
If you are really interested in seeing the faunal wildlife of the Central Coast, the Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park is a perfect place for you! This location is the only wildlife hotspot in New South Wales that features free-roaming animals and ancient Aboriginal rock art sites, while being open to the public seven days a week. Kangaroos, wallabies, emus, flying-foxes, echidnas, Tasmanian devils, wombats, these are merely some of the incredibly beautiful animal species to be seen. This park is truly a unique animal lover's hotspot, as it allows you to interact with mammals, birds and reptiles on ranger-guided Aboriginal heritage, bush tucker and bush medicine tours.
Girrakool Picnic Area
Although the Central Coast region is abundant with picnic spots, there is nothing quite like the Girrakool. Free barbecues, picnic tables, plenty of parking space, and its convenient distance from Sydney and Newcastle make this is a fantastic location for a family gathering. Right next to the car park lies a vast grassy area that is perfect for kicking a ball around or playing catch. For those who like to get in the thick of it, there’s the far area of the car park that is lush with a more rugged bush setting, and if you want to stretch your legs, there is no place better than the easy Girrakool loop walk, which will guide you past Aboriginal rock engravings, through forest and right past waterfalls. Opting for bus hire in Central Coast is a regular thing when it comes to spots like this one—who would want to barbecue without cracking open a couple of cold ones?
Fannel Flower Walking Track
If you happen to find yourself on the Central Coast during spring, you cannot miss out on the Bouddi National Park's gorgeous and diverse vegetation. Experience the track that goes through the towering angophora forest and absorb the beautiful wildlife that the New South Wales region has to offer. This track will take you through the stunning bushland and beachfront, but make sure not to get carried away—remain on the track at all times!
A one-time visit does not give you enough time to fully experience any spot on earth, let alone one of Australia’s favorite tourist hotspots that is the Central Coast. However, we hope that this guide will help you make the most out of your trip and give you a reason to come back soon and continue exploring its vast beauty.
