When the ever-busy Victoria Harbour is in Hong Kong, how cannot it be a great maritime city in the world? Those who love cruising always love Hong Kong, because their cruising experiences get so much better and greater in this destination. During these journeys, they get to see beautiful views of the city while also exploring how eventful the atmosphere is with cargo vessels, warships, and ferries engaging in their day to day operations.

Cruising in Hong Kong

So, even if you decide to stay in a budget hotel in Hong Kong the likes of Dorsett Mongkok, cruising (even on a small cruise ship) is something that you would want to spend your money for, because the experience is all worth it. Viewing this Chinese city which was once a British colony from the deck of a ship is surely a great experience, and although this experience may cost you a little higher, you’ll just say ‘never-mind’ and enjoy your moments. The Tourism Board of Hong Kong recently published a separate guidebook also for the Hong Kong cruisers, and in it, they have emphasized the diverse experiences that a person can enjoy while cruising in Hong Kong. Currently, there are around 30 cruise lines in the city, and this number is sure to be increased gradually with time.

Cruising options

One of the most popular ways to cruise in Hong Kong is to fly to this destination first for a vacation and then taking a round-trip cruise from there. There are many Hong Kong-based cruise services to gift you this experience, and they all will be able to grant you never forgetting memories. You can also take an Asian cruise that generally has a stop in Hong Kong. These journeys have 2-3 day stops in this destination during which you can visit the local attractions like a pro.

Cruise Terminals in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, there are 2 cruise ship terminals, namely the Ocean Terminal and the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. The Ocean Terminal is loved and craved by the shopaholics because it’s linked to the shopping complex of the Harbour City which has nearly 500 shops, 50 dining options, and even some great hotels. Since the location is very close to the attractions the likes of the Space Museum, Museum of Art, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, people love this terminal over the other. But, on the other hand, if what you are looking for is spectacular views of the Victoria Harbour, Kai Ta Terminal is what will attract you the most.

Shore excursions that you can try out

So, if you decide to allocate a day for a shore excursion (which also sounds great), include the Victoria Peak which is positioned 500 m above the harbour to have some amazing views of the entire city. Do also visit the other attractions such as the Stanley street market and Aberdeen as all these can be covered within one day if planned properly. If you just have one evening to spend in Hong Kong (amidst all your other commitments), you may then get a sunset cruise arranged to head to the village ‘Lei Yue Mun’ which is a fishing village in which you can explore how the locals in Hong Kong actually live their lives in very simple ways. Spend your night at the Temple Street Night Market doing some shopping and to entertain you if you ever feel fed up, there are also a bunch of restaurants and street food centres awaiting to welcome you with all their hearts. If your timing is good, you will also be able to witness some festivals in Hong Kong which beautifully symbolize its culture and traditions.
