The Beltane fire festival welcomes the abundance of the fertile earth and is celebrated with bonfires, Maypoles, burning of the Wickerman, dancing, and a feast, with its roots in European traditions, Beltane is observed by many of today’s Pagans and others as a time for performing celebrations.

Suvial "From a young age we are taught a lot of misconceptions"

The Celts divided the year into two main seasons. Winter, the beginning of the year fell on 1* November 1 (Irish: Samain) and midyear and summer on May 1 (Irish: Beltaine), opposite for us here in the Southern Hemisphere.

These two junctures were thought to be critical periods when the bonds between the human and supernatural worlds were temporarily erased; on May Eve (southern hemisphere) witches and fairies roamed freely.

Beltane celebrates the coming new life and growth. Observed on October 31−November 1 in the Southern Hemisphere.

May 1 is Beltane in the Northern Hemisphere, November 1 in the Southern Hemisphere, and on that day we honour nature’s oldest love story. Beltane means bright fire, and in earth-based traditions, it represents the symbolic marriage of the God and Goddess and their eternal embrace.

According to ancient lore, the two have been separated all winter long, and their glorious reunion on Beltane is celebrated with food, drink, and multi-coloured maypoles to symbolize female energies wrapping themselves around the male form. The entire world comes alive with new life and bright colours to celebrate this union of the Divine Feminine with the Divine Masculine.

This holiday is a celebration that honours the divine balance in the union of masculine and feminine. Having reached maturity after their long, wintry separation, Lord and Lady can now come together as one and give birth to new life, ideas, passions, projects, and wonderful expressions of unbridled sensuality.

Fires are the traditional staple and symbol of Beltane. Traditionally, pastoral herds were driven through two fire posts for blessing and purification. The young, unmarried men would then leap over the bonfire and wish for a wife, while young women would leap to ensure their fertility.

Beltane is a day to embrace the divinity of our sexual nature. Like Samhain, the opposite holiday on the Wheel of the Year, this is also a time when the veil between the realms is thin, and it is an ideal time to communicate with the spirit world, especially nature spirits.

At Samhain, the circle of the year has come to its final spoke in the Wheel. At this time, the harvest has finished, the dying god interred, and the goddess has descended to the underworld to be with her beloved.

Above, her people prepare for the veil between the worlds to thin; dead ancestors will be visiting, and with the harvest tools put away. there’s a new year to think about, resources to manage, goodbyes to say, and plans to make. Meanwhile, the now barren land gives way to the rulership of the Crone.

Do you find yourself being afraid? Fear of failure (as a wife, mother, employee, and the list goes on), fear of change, fear of conflict, fear of danger/evil/harm? Fear seems to be my self-assigned middle name. Even as a child I wore fear like a comfy old t-shirt.

Sometimes I put it off for a special occasion so I could dress up and put on "confidence." At times I've even thrown it out and sent it to Goodwill! Before too long though, I realize I've already got 3 or 4 replacements for it. Fear of health, fear of aging parents, kids going off to college, fear of unhappy church members.

One would think that the older you get the less fearful you become, but I still struggled. As a youth pastors wife I was a self-proclaimed chicken and would ask the teen girls to stay with me when hubby was out of town. I tried so many safety techniques and took great measures to set myself up for success only to still be awake at all times of the night.I lay thinking/focusing on true thoughts, noble thoughts, just, pure, or lovely thoughts. I was allowing my mind to wander in so many directions/conclusions and few were good. It wasn't until, with They weren't true, honest, just, etc. I had to stop the habit of letting my mind dwell on the wicked and choose to think on truth.

I wish world peace ; trust ; transparency _ love _ compassion and have the Lord printed oh your heart body and Soul. Do not lean on your own opinion but the good Creator who currently walks the earth and be sure you are not to Mis HIM as you do not know what he brings until you have been touched and moved in his ways _ I cannot keep going in; feeling of emptiness pray in Silent prayers; In quiet only that It’s just kept safe. Sadly, family members are often the people who can hurt us the most because there are “rules” and “expectations” and supposed unconditional support and love!!! It’s because of the legend of unconditional support that we give family the power to hurt us the most. The truth is for a lot of people that “family” are the most toxic and damaging people in their lives. If you have to walk a tightrope to keep your parents, children or extended family happy, that’s a toxic situation. If you can’t be yourself and be supported for your choices, have a think about that. Especially if you support them!
