Color Factory: Bright or Dull?

Chances are, unless you're an art freak like me, you haven't heard of Color Factory. Here's why you should.

Recently, my mother and I took a weekend trip to New York City. Unsure of what to do once we'd gone through the usual touristy adventures of Madame Tussaud's, Broadway, and Times Square, we went to trusty Maps on our phones and searched "Travel." Hotels, restaurants, and landmarks bombarded the screen (I mean, hello, it's NYC). But scrolling through, I found Color Factory listed and almost lost it! I couldn't believe I had forgotten to check out Color Factory. Trying to explain it to my mom, she didn't seem overly convinced that it would be worth the time and money, but what mother can resist her daughter when she's basically begging to go learn about art?

If you've ever seen those perfect, colorful, jealousy-inducing Instagram posts of your friends and wanted to get back at them, Color Factory should be your new bucket list location!

Color Factory has been becoming more and more popular thanks to its pop culture appearances, such as on the Disney Channel show Andi Mack.

Watching the clip above will give you a small glimpse into what Color Factory looks like and how fun it can be for a group of friends spending a day together.

So what is Color Factory? And why is it worth the $38 ticket price?

Color Factory is an entire museum of, well, color! Each room is dedicated to a new color and way to understand art. There's a giant ball pit of sky blue balls to make it seem like your floating in air. There's a pink/purple sequined dance room to enjoy your flashy, Kardashian-eque side. Plus many more surprises that I won't ruin for you. But trust me, no trip to NYC would be complete without a trip to this colorful, Instagram-worthy local.

After a long, original run in San Francisco, Color Factory moved their operation to New York with all new installations and colors. The staff are experts in their world of art and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the world in total color schemes is one you won't soon forget.

Even if art isn't your forte, you'll find yourself enjoying the simplicity of a completely orange room and the child-like joy aroused by a room filled with balloons. There's no such thing as too much color in the world and Color Factory is ready to prove it to even the most serious doubters—like my mom who ended up saying it was one of her favorite parts of the trip.

Take a sneak peek inside Color Factory's walls and see for yourself before heading in. You'll be itching to jump into the ball pit! Ready to bust a move on the dance floor! And craving some colorful new memories in no time!

So, $38 seems steep to spend time in an old warehouse looking at colors, right? If the opportunity to experience the world of your imagination in brighter, more vivid colors isn't enough, you're not alone. My mom felt the same way, but the money goes back into the surrounding communities. Color Factory is "committed to working with and giving back to nonprofit groups in the communities..." and so far in NYC, they've donated to "826NYC, God's Love We Deliver, Coalition for the Homeless, RAICES Texas, LAND Gallery, and Housing Works."
