Thinking about a trip?

If you are considering where to go for a holiday, think about going to Bermuda. The following article discusses many of the activities that Bermuda has to offer.

Beaches and More

Bermuda has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and an array of natural wonders. If you are looking to experience a Caribbean cruise, I highly recommend it.

Horseshoe Bay is a lovely spot to begin. Look at the beautiful rock formations, the pink sand, and the turquoise water.

The gem caves of Bermuda are not to be missed. Underground, you’ll find a universe of fragile beauty. Here, you can see precious stone formations of every size and shape. Below, there is an incredible underground lake, over 50 feet deep.

Some other incredible attractions incorporate the Baby Beach, which is great for families with young children. You might like to explore the Crystal Caves or the Fantasy Caves, where you'll discover stalagmites, stalactites, and other wonderful developments, and clear purplish blue pools of water. It is said that the cavern was found by two young men—cricket players, apparently—who lost a ball, which had fallen into the cave. They walked in, and discovered wonders.

Out on the Town

On the opposite side of the island, close to the St. George Parish, you'll discover Tobacco Bay. This is the perfect shoreline to go swimming, and view the coral and fish. Indeed, even local people hang over here. You can also take the ship to look at the shipyard, at Tobacco Bay.

Some eateries have partnerships with the cruise lines, to allow cruise customers to eat or get complimentary beverages at these eateries, for reduced rates or for free. At the Frog and Onion Pub at the King's Wharf, they give you free sample drinks, including wine and brew, on some days of the week.

See the vast beaches and the turquoise waters of Bermuda. You can see the islands in luxury, from the deck of a ship. These excursions are family friendly, and offer a wide range of incredible opportunities, for example, swimming with neon fish and dolphins. You may even find a remote island. Learn more about the laidback Caribbean culture, and test the food and beverages, on board or off.

When the cruise docks, however, a huge group of people will get off the ship, and scramble towards the maps and leaflets. There will be long lines at the visitor centers, and ship terminals, as well as for taxis and transport into town, and the beaches will be more crowded. Just get used to the number of people—or check out lesser-known sites. The luxuries that a cruise grants you are often worth the minor inconveniences. Cruises, after all, offer a great deal of flexibility and privacy for a limited cost.

Mysterious and Lesser Known Spots

Check out the sites dedicated to John Lennon, the member of the Beatles, who came to Bermuda for inspiration. He tired of the stultifying chaos of New York City, and hadn’t been writing any new songs for about five years. But when he arrived in Bermuda, he was inspired by the beautiful island, and wrote an album dedicated to his experience there. His journey there was much rockier than what you might expect on your calm cruise voyage. Of the tumultuous trip, he wrote as follows:

"So, I was there driving the boat for six hours, keeping it on course. I was buried under water. I was smashed in the face by waves for six solid hours. It won’t go away. You can’t change your mind. It’s like being on stage; once you’re on there’s no gettin’ off. A couple of the waves had me on my knees. I was just hanging on with my hands on the wheel—it’s very powerful weather—and I was having the time of my life. I was screaming sea chanteys and shoutin' at the gods! I felt like the Viking, you know, Jason and the Golden Fleece."

Beatles virtuoso John Lennon composed no less than 22 tunes, during his two months in Bermuda, some of which were featured on Double Fantasy. He was inspired by the flowers at Bermuda Botanical Gardens, by local art at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, and by the nightlife of Front Street. There's a statue by local craftsman Graham Foster remembering Lennon's Bermuda visit, in the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

Searching for more mysterious spots? Take a sunset cocktail cruise, onboard a luxurious festivity yacht. You’ll be able to choose from a bar, stocked with champagne. There are also plenty of types of wine to choose from, to drink by the jug or glass. You can also request a tailored mixed drink, or one from the menu.

If you are looking to learn more about Bermuda’s colonial history, take a stroll through the town of St. George. One cool approach to getting around the island is through a horse drawn carriage ride. You will have the chance to take a ride through the historic boulevards while getting familiar with the history. The tour guides are helpful and accommodating.

If you have been thinking about a trip to Bermuda, now you know some of the best spots to check out. Happy travels!
