The Starry Ceiling Of Carlisle Cathedral

Introduction

Today, with my sister Yvonne, and friends Nicola, Mick, Debbie and Harry, we met up in Carlisle.

We had drinks in The Griffin, which is a wonderful, welcoming pub by the station, and very reasonably priced, while being an impressive place. The barmaid was very helpful and the service was excellent.

Then on to La Mezzaluna where we had a wonderful lunch (I had a chicken risotto)

But That Cathedral Ceiling

I got to Carlisle an hour before everyone and took a walk to the Cathedral, which I did not know existed, and was very impressed. The second visit i noticed the angels and the stars, and was absolutely awestruck with ehat I saw:

A close-up of an angel.

Gold angels along the roof at where the ceiling meets the wall.

The whole lot.

Conclusion

I am amazed by the angels and stars in the architecture of Carlisle Cathedral, something which I did not know existed until today.

The staff at the cathedral were also very helpful.
