Have you ever dreamt of vacationing on a small island surrounded by beautiful beaches? But somehow, you dismissed it, thinking such a trip would cost a fortune? Well, I’m not here to tell you to “never give up” or to send you any motivational quotes. I’m not someone who believes in that kind of thing either.

However, after reading this, you’ll learn that it’s actually possible to escape to a small island for 3 days with around IDR 1 million! And yes, I was still able to enjoy delicious meals, relax by the beach, and sip coffee at a beachfront café.

TRANSPORTATION

After spending a day scrolling through options for the most effective transportation from my home to Padang Bai, I found an account offering a round-trip ticket for IDR 750,000, which included a direct pick-up service to my doorstep. Of course, there are cheaper options around IDR 200,000, but knowing that I’m prone to seasickness, I opted for the Wahana Virendra fast boat. The ride was smoother and much more comfortable.

ACCOMMODATION

I stayed at a small homestay, 20 minutes from the harbor but affordable and cozy for a 3-day stay. It’s called Welly Bungalow. After arriving at the harbor and resting for a bit at a beachside café, I walked to the homestay. The room had a queen-size bed, AC, and the owner was kind and very helpful, even offering special rates on bicycle rentals. (-) The bathroom water had a slight salty taste.
