Top Attractions of Hamptons

By Antonella BertelloPublished 5 years ago 4 min read

The Hamptons feature a series of coastal villages lined up on the southern fork of Long Island. Just as the name suggests, a Hamptons vacation promises immense luxury and comfort.

What’s More?

The Hamptons embodies the relaxed vacation mood with miles of golden sand, rolling dunes and the loveliest towns. No Hampton town is lovelier than East Hampton, which is home to some of the residents of the highest stature.

An escape here, therefore, promises an ecstasy of wondrous theatre productions and exhibitions along with some of the best places to stay in the Hamptons.

Matching the high profiles of residents of East Hamptons are prestigious top-tier establishments with classy accommodation. Even before mentioning the splendid beaches among a myriad of remarkable sites, these hotels provide a significant reason why you would want to visit the Hamptons. Each guesthouse has something different to offer. These unique features include breathtaking views, spacious boarding, spas and pools, beach-related services, complimentary SUV transport, and classy dining.

The Hamptons is famous for its beaches. While private beaches are quite daunting to access, this does not mean that you miss the seaside experience. You should expect a top-of-the-world beach experience on the public beaches. As a matter of fact, the East Hampton Main Beach is in the top ten best beaches in the US.

1. East Hampton Main Beach

The East Hampton Main Beach is home to plenty of beach activities throughout the summer including building sandcastles, picnics, and hosts plenty of unapologetic sunbathers.

Along the East Hampton Main Beach, it is easy to come across a celebrity who has decided to tan alongside mere mortals. This would make quite the experience to recount.

The beach also has great waves for surfing too. If you have not yet tried surfing, this is the place to try it out.

Due to the hefty parking price and—well, of course—the health benefits, cycling here is more convenient than driving. This is unless you are taking up residence with a hotel that has parking passes on the beach.

The East Hampton Main Beach boasts easy access from most of the top-tier hotels in the Hamptons. In this respect, The 1770 House and The Baker House 1650 are among the best.

2. LongHouse Reserve

LongHouse Reserve is a 16-acre sprawl of a reserve and sculpture garden with awe-inspiring pieces. This is Jack Lenor Larsen’s home, initially meant to be a case study designed to extrapolate an imaginative view of life.

LongHouse reserve takes 13,000 square feet of space and has an artistic background of several sorts. This creates a variety of sites for the setting up of monuments.

The LongHouse Garden holds over 60 permanent modern sculptures along with pieces on seasonal loans from owners and artists. Therefore, it always holds a mystery for those who visit, regardless of whether it is their first visit or not.

LongHouse garden is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays for a friendly fee. A leisurely stroll in this serene atmosphere is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Below are the most notable sites at the LongHouse Reserve:

  • a) Peter’s Pond: A pond with water lilies, bullfrogs and turtles among other exotic wildlife.
  • b) Red Garden: A beautiful garden with an assortment of colorful flowers, designed by the founder Jack Lenor Larsen.
  • c) Fly’s Eye Dome: An awe-inspiring monument that resembles the eye of an insect. This piece was conceptualized by Buckminster Fuller but was developed and produced by John Kuthik, 1998.
  • d) Play it by Trust: A bright all white display of a chessboard with almost life-size pieces by Yoko Ono, 1999.
  • e) Reclining Figure: A sculpture by famous abstract expressionist, Willem de Kooning that captures your imagination, 1969-82.
  • f) Cobalt Reeds: A beautiful setting of cobalt rods blending in with brown grass and wooden monuments by Dale Chihuly, 2000.

What Not to Miss at East Hamptons

  1. Let everything go on the main beach with a vast stretch of white sand and good surfing waves.
  2. Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center offer an impressive insight into the lives and work of the artists, Jackson Pollock, and Lee Krasner.
  3. A visit to the Guild Hall which hosts regular shows which you could follow up with a tour of a museum which has a variety of exhibits

East Hampton has the best comfort spots in the Hamptons.

Conveniently located a stone-throw-away from the East Hampton Main Beach, and featuring an artistic style, lavish pools, and spa, the Baker House 1650 is undeniably a place worth recommending.

Besides its stellar 17th-century architecture and the beautifully manicured gardens with a serene atmosphere, Baker House 1650 offers a one of a kind in-room experience. Each room has dumbfounding décor, a private bath, distinct climate control, among other comforts in place to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
