Girl power is awesome.

Especially in the case of female anime leads. They're beautiful, walk with confidence; they all have the courage to go after what they want, and their resilience to protect what's most important to them gleams. Here are my top 3 female characters that portray these characteristics effortlessly.

1. Michiko Malandro - Michiko & Hatchin

In the words of Megan thee Stallion, she's a savage. A stunning convict escapee who's absolutely determined to track down a mysterious man, this chick spells bad news. But she's just too irresistibly good.

Accompanied by Hatchin, an orphan who supposedly has blood ties with the same man, they both grow through a spontaneous adventure filled with good and bad cops, new and old romances, and let's not forget the corrupted gangs.

I absolutely admire her character development throughout the series. Although her reckless, child-like demeanor is always present, there are moments where her brilliance really stands out. What's more touching is that she'll always have a place in her heart for Hatchin regardless of the situation at hand. She may not be the best at showing her affection right the first time, but she means well.

Aside from that, she's also physically capable of handling whatever comes her way. I mean, she escaped a prison for goodness sake. And her foes don't get any easier to deal with along the journey.

To sum it up, Michiko can be terribly rebellious, but she can also be exciting to experience life with. A gorgeous gal who isn't afraid to kick some balls - plus she's loyal. Periodt.

2. Fujiko Mine - Lupin The Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine

Alluring. Unfazed. Deceitful. Bewildering. These are just a few words to describe the woman called Fujiko Mine. This short 13-episode series follows her unique and lavish lifestyle of thievery, manipulation, and murder.

Why I find her so captivating is partially due to the fact that you almost never see her falter. Every move she makes is with intent and so carefully planned.

As for the other part, there's a moment in the series where she's actually quite vulnerable, but how quickly she's able to bring herself together and pick herself back up has me shook.

Like Michiko, Fujiko can wreak havoc, but with such grace and eloquence. I can see why she's adored by so many - even by the master thief himself (Lupin III). Yup. She's the whole package.

You can watch Fujiko Mine and her antics here on Amazon!

3. Hana - Wolf Children

Hana was a normal college student living mundane before she met her lover. Turns out he was part wolf. That didn't stop her though, and neither did the events following after the fact.

Widowed not too long after giving birth to their second child, Hana is faced with raising two wolf children on her own.

It's truly touching to watch Hana put her feelings aside for the betterment of her family. It definitely had me reflect on how wonderful my mother is and how moms in general go through a lot of hardships for the sake of their children's futures. Taking care of another life besides your own isn't easy, and for Hana, to raise half wolf / half human kids with absolutely no knowledge must've been daunting.

Hana's not the usual bad ass one would stereotypically assume. She's the one who's silent, but strong. Struggles, yet still faces each challenge with a smile on her face.

Not only that, but this woman had not one- but two kids with a wolf man. She's wild.
