In the middle of the ongoing events in Palestine, here are some stories of brave Palestinian women throughout the history.

Leila Khaled

Leila Khaled

Leila is a Palestinian refugee and member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In 1969, she hijacked an israelian airplane -the TWA flight 840- and changed its path to Syria. By that, she came the first woman to take such a courageous step.

The armed struggle is an essential way in liberating the land and uprooting the enemy, adding that "this basic equation, because with the occupation there is resistance, and it is an equation created by the peoples who gained their freedom as a result of their struggle.

In Leila's book, My people shall live, she gives a thorough account of events that took place during her life filled occasionally with her own brand of humor. Overall, inspiring and deeply emotional. Quoting from her book "As a Palestinian, I had to believe in the gun as an embodiment of my humanity and my determination to liberate myself and my fellow men. Every self-respecting Palestinian had to become a revolutionary."

Shadia Abu Ghazaleh

Shadia Abu Ghazaleh

On November 28, 2016, was the last Monday is Shadia's life, the day when she says goodbye with a brave heart. Shadia is a Palestinian political activist, member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. She participated in the 1967 war, and formed the first female armed cell. After the defeat and the scarcity of Nabuls, she refused to hand over the weapon and rejecting surrender.

Shadia was killed while making a homemade bomb in her home and it was planned to place it in the Tel Aviv building.

Dalal Al-Maghribi

Dalal Al-Maghribi

Dalal Mughrabi was a Palestinian militant who was a member of the Fatah faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization and participated in the 1978 Coastal Road massacre in Israel. Accomplished Successes in infiltrating the Palestinian territories control of an Israeli Mercedes. The group used this car to control an Israeli bus and drove it to Tel Aviv. Later on she was killed, accompanied by some of her fellow fighters.

The occupation still refuses to hand over her remains to her families.

Ayat al-Akhras

Ayat Al-Akhras

March 29, 2002, 17- year old Ayat blew herself up in a commercial center in Jerusalem. In a martyrdom operation, the third of its kind, that was carried out by a Palestinian girl which led to the killing of many settlers and wounding dozens of them.

Mariam Al-Afifi

Throughout the history of Palestine, women fought for their land, and whether it's in the 90s or now, they're still role models , following the same steps left by the older women, those two young women have the same braveness running in their veins.

Mariam Alafifi, a Palestinian young woman was held and dragged by her hijab, arrested and beaten by Israeli forces for defending Palestinian families who were forced to leave their homes. Mariam raised her eyes to Israeli forces and raised her voice in front of Israeli forces demanding an explanation, and questioning their humanity.

Mariam Asaf

The moment Mariam Asaf was arrested

Mariam Asaf was also rabidly arrested and attacked for supporting the families and protesting against Israeli forces. These young women and hundreds of other women, lead an unknown battle every day, and whether they smile to the camera or not, they're definitely figures to look up to and learn humanity, potential, stability, love, and unity from them.
