So, you've decided to make the switch to reusable cloth pads—congratulations! Or maybe you're curious about switching, but still trying to decide if it's right for you. Either way, this post will help you to choose which LunaPads will work best for your flow and your lifestyle.

LunaPads has one of the widest product ranges when it comes to cloth pads. Reusable pads are a responsible choice for both your body and the environment. By switching to cloth pads, you are helping to decrease the amount of disposable feminine hygiene products that end up in landfills, as well as reducing your exposure to the many harmful chemicals that can be found in disposable menstrual products. Based in Vancouver, Canada, LunaPads makes reusable pads, pantyliners, and the DivaCup. In this article, I am going to focus on their line of reusable LunaPads and inserts.

Choosing Sizes

LunaPads come in a variety of lengths and sizes to suit every body shape and flow need. No matter what your flow, there is a LunaPad that will suit your needs.

One of the best things about LunaPads is that no matter the length of the pad, the absorbancy remains the same. A Mini Pad will absorb the same amount as an Overnight Pad. The only difference is the length of the pad and inserts, which offers more coverage against leaks as the sizing increases.

Each Pad is constructed of 2 layers of 100% cotton flannel, topped with 2 additional layers of absorbent cotton fleece, and 1 bottom layer of PUL (Polyurethane Laminated Fabric) to stop soaking through.

The inserts are each constructed of 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.

Mini Pads

Length: 8"

Width: 2.5"

The Mini Pad is best suited for petite bodies, or for the lightest days of your cycle when your flow is minimal.

Maxi Pads

Width: 2.5"

The Maxi pad is best suited for average bodies, or for days when your flow is light to moderate.

Wide Pad

Length: 10", 12"

Width: 3.5"

The Wide pad is designed to fit underwear with a wider gusset like trunk briefs and boyshorts. They come in two lengths and are suitable for your moderate to heavy days.

Long Pads

Length: 12"

Width: 2.5"

The Long pad is best suited for average or plus-sized bodies and provides coverage on your heaviest days.

Overnight Pads

Length: 14"

Width: 2.5"

The Overnight pad is best suited for average or plus-sized bodies and will keep you leak-free and comfortable during your heaviest nights.

Benefits of Switching to LunaPads

If you're still on the fence about switching to LunaPads, consider the following points:

Comfort

For many women, making the switch to cloth pads has helped them to leave the itching, chafing, and rashes caused by disposable pads behind for good. Cloth pads are also far more breathable than plastic disposable pads, and will not pinch and bunch up either.

Health

Switching to cloth pads means that you will no longer be subjecting your body to the harsh chemicals and bleaches that can be found in disposable pads. Many women even claim that their cramping subsided after they made the switch to cloth pads!

Money

While it may seem like an investment upfront, switching to cloth pads will save you money in the long run. When properly cared for, LunaPads will last for at least 5 years—but a lot of women have been using theirs for 10!

Environment

Perhaps the most impactful aspect of switching to cloth pads is the waste reduction. Every year, over 2 million pads and tampons are being diverted from landfills thanks to women who have made the switch to LunaPads.

Make the Switch

Tens of thousands of women around the world have made the switch to LunaPads. Given the benefits of switching from disposable products, why shouldn't you?
