Strong Women and Equality: What's hard about that?

You hear "feminism" and your mind instantly goes into arguing mode. Stop.

"Feminism: the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes." This movement is entirely about equality. Not about women being better than men or vice versa. All women want is equality. In the job world, women still get paid less for doing the same job as a man simply because they are women. We get told we can't do certain jobs because it's not what a woman should do. What exactly is a woman meant to do? Has that been set in stone? No. We are all able to do whatever we want. A lot of people still believe women shouldn't be the breadwinner or earn more than a man. Some even still believe women shouldn't be in certain job roles because it's "too much" for them. I say screw all those opinions. I class myself as a strong, independent woman who can achieve anything she puts her mind to. I have massive goals for my lifetime in a field that is mainly male dominated, but I intend to work hard and make my way to the top. Hard work is what is needed to get to where we all want to be. If I work hard enough to get to the position I want to be in, then who on this earth has the right to take that away from me? I try to encourage my friends to work just as hard and achieve everything they want. Positive enforcement is sometimes all that's needed to trigger something in someone's mind to make them believe they can do anything in this world.

The inequality doesn't only span to the job world, but even with sex. If a man sleeps with four women, he gets praise. If a woman sleeps with four men, she gets slut-shamed. How does that make any sense? Sex is something liberating. A woman should be able to indulge herself with whoever she sees fit and not have the repercussions of being slut-shamed due to that. Women have more power than we get credit for. We can do so much more than some think. We are intelligent, beautiful, and powerful. We run the world. We are moving forward from gaining the right to vote to being the CEOs of companies. I know women who have started their own businesses and are thriving. So many women are also in different industries such as the fashion industry and are making billions worldwide due to their sheer talent. Vera Wang is one of the biggest fashion designers in the world. Her clothes are adored by millions, and she worked hard to get to that point. There are women in high places in politics. The Prime Minister of the UK is a woman, alongside many other countryside having female leaders. There are more women in Parliament and more women in the music industry. We have Beyonce, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and so many more. All these women are in an industry that is dominated by men and they're succeeding and performing amazingly in the music charts.

Women should not have to prove that they can do a job. We all get the same education. If a woman decides to go to law school and gets the same level of education as a man, then they both deserve the same pay rate for the same job. If a woman wants to stay at home and be a housewife, then she can. Both men and women are free to do as they like. Inequality is at the point that it causes some women to think they can't do certain jobs or be in a specific position of power and that's something we need to get rid of. We need to empower our daughters, encourage the women in our lives to move forward and to do things that make them feel empowered and strong, not leave them in stereotypical positions of submissiveness.

So my message is, help the women in your life to succeed and watch them flourish. You'd be surprised at what a little girl with dreams can achieve with the right support around her.
