"Matcha Red Bean Daifuku"—2017—Acrylic Paint & Mixed Media on Gessoed Board, 8 x 10 x .75"—$500 USD

Tina Yu, Chinese-American artist based in New York City, is fresh-on-the-scene she gained a following through talk between people in the art world. Once she began to expand she continued to paint and started to do sculptures on her canvases. I felt she was unique apart from other artists who do not sculpt or create solely by hand as much anymore. Our modern times are so into technology, graphic designing, almost all digital. Luckily for us, she's picked up the sculpting tools and gave us a whole new way of viewing art and creating art.

As she begun to expand, she created an Instagram space online solely for her art to show. She was featured in Arch Enemy Arts Gallery + Boutique in Philadelphia for a previous exhibition. The previous exhibition was named “Happily Ever After” it was her first ever solo feature. And one to be quite proud of, when speaking with Arch Enemy Arts about the exhibition she has this to say.

“Why do girls have to choose between being feminine little princesses or badass bitches, why can't we be both?”—Tina Yu.

She will be releasing new dates and locations for her upcoming art-viewings. So far many of her fans, have seen her work online and not in person unfortunately. But her work is almost surreal and dazzling many of us are completely, dying to see it up close both the sculptures and the paintings of hers. “A bit of a surrealist,” Tina Yu’s polymer clay sculpture collection is the vivid inspirations from her youth. They include reflections on memories, childhood role models and spins on well-recognized female figures in society. Each art piece is creatively made to evoke thought and contemplation on our world. With every detail, color, hand, and wide-eyed sculpture we are meant to think about its message. Of her paintings my favorite is by far the Matcha Red Bean Daifuku 2017, it's acrylic paint and mixed media on gessoed board. Her sculptures are vast, she has created so many, my fave is Drowning 2017.
