Houston 75 - Memphis 63

Eryka Sidney led Houston to a 12-point win at Memphis on Tuesday night. The 5-6 Houston native paced Houston with 18 points and seven assists. It was an unexpected performance from Sidney who is a career 4.2 point per game scorer. Her previous high for the season was seven points in the opener. She'd also hadn't recorded more one assist in a game this season.

Houston also played strong team defense. The Cougars stole the ball 15 times and forced 30 turnovers. Forward Bria Patterson and guard Ca'Leyah Burrell both recorded four steals each. Guard Julia Blackshell-Fair had three steals.

Memphis was led in scoring by sophomore guard Madison Griggs who had 17 points. Another sophomore guard Aerial Wilson had a game high 10 assists but she also turned the ball over seven times.

Junior college transfer Daphnee White started her first game for Houston, scoring nine points on four-of-six shooting in 22 minutes.

Howard 65 - Richmond 54

Howard (4-1) used an 18-8 fourth quarter run to defeat Richmond in a home win. Senior guard Jayla Thornton had her best game of the season as she posted 29 points, while draining five threes. Thornton also hit 10-of-10 free-throws. She is averaging 17.2 points per game so far this season.

Forward Brooklynn Fort-Davis was Howard's second leading scorer with 11 points. She also posted six rebounds and two steals. The Bison got a team best six assists from Iyanna Warren.

Richmond outrebounded Howard by a drastic 56-37 margin behind two double-doubles. Guard Siobhan Ryan had 12 rebounds and 12 points and forward Elaina Chapman had 11 rebounds and 13 points. Where Richmond found trouble was taking care of the basketball. The Spiders had just 16 assists and 25 turnovers. Howard had 15 assists and 11 turnovers.

Buffalo 87 - Western Michigan 66

Dyaisha Fair had her first 30-point game of the young season, as Buffalo (5-2) routed Western Michigan (1-3) by 19 points. She following up her freshman season where she averaged 21.3 points per game with a sophomore campaign that sees her averaging 22.3 points through the first seven games.

Three other players from Buffalo posted double figures including reserve junior guard Jazmine Young who scored 15 points in 25 minutes, while shooting six-of-eight from the field. Another reserve, Keowa Walters, a junior forward from Toronto, posted 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Bulls. This was her first double digit scoring and second game with more than 10 rebounds this season.

Buffalo's Cheyenne McEvans scored 11 points on five-of-seven shots. She also posted five rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block, while playing a game high 33 minutes.

Western Michigan was led in scoring by Reilly Jacobson and Maddie Walters, who scored 15 points each. Forward Taylor Williams posted 14 rebounds to lead the Broncos on the glass.

Michigan State 94 - Oakland 56

After a couple of reasonably close wins against mid-majors Central Michigan (79-70) and Northern Illinois (82-70), Michigan State left no doubt who the more dominant team was when it toppled Oakland by 38 points on Tuesday.

Oakland hung tough after one quarter, trailing Michigan State 16-12 but the unbeaten Spartans expanded their lead to 42-31 to go into the half and continued to expand its lead throughout the game.

Senior guard Nia Clouden led the way with 15 points in 14 minutes. She hit seven-of-eight shots, while registering three assists and three boards. Julia Ayrault knocked down six-of-eight shots, scoring 14 points. The 6-2 sophomore guard hauled in nine rebounds as well. It was her third game with at least as many boards this season.

Michigan State got two strong performances off of the bench. Sophomore Moira Joiner scored 13 points, with five rebounds and five assists. She made all of her six free-throw attempts. Junior guard Janai Crooms played a season and teams best 27 minutes. She also led the team with 10 rebounds and six assists.

Sophomore guard Alyza Winston posted 12 points on five-of-nine shooting. It marked the fifth time in six games that she scored at least 11 points in a game.
