No Upsets Here! UCLA, Texas & UK Win

UCLA 102 - UC Santa Barbara 45

Eight players took the court for UCLA (3-1) and all but one scored at least nine points in a 57-point victory against UC Santa Barbara (0-1) on Wednesday, at Pauley Pavilion.

The Bruins shot 50 percent overall as well as from three and made all 14 of their free-throw attempts in the blowout win. Sophomore guard Charisma Osborne led all players with 18 points. The 5-9 guard from Moreno Valley, California, is averaging 19.5 points so far this season, after posting an average of 12.2 points per game as a freshman.

Two Bruins had double-doubles. Senior guard Chantel Horvat had her best game of the season by far with 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assist and a block in 29 minutes. So far this season she is shooting 68 percent from the floor. Senior forward Michaela Onyenwere recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She scored the 1,500th point of her career making her the 19th player in school history to do so.

UCLA freshman Emily Bessoir had her first double-digit output with 15 points. The 6-4 forward from Munich, Germany also collected six rebounds and four steals.

While UC Santa Barbara was overwhelmed in all statistical categories it did receive a solid performance from senior guard Danae Miller. She shot 6-11 including 2-5 from three, to score 16 points.

Texas 73 - Idaho 48

Junior center Charli Collier scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Texas (4-1) to victory. Collier is averaging 25 points after the first five games of the season. The 6-5, force is having a career season as she has averaged 11 points per game throughout her career. She's also grabbed double-digit rebounds in four of the five games this season.

Texas also got 15 points each from guard Joanne Allen-Taylor and Karisma Ortiz. Freshman guard Shay Holle had career highs with 10 rebounds, four assists and tied her career best with two blocks. Senior guard Kyra Lambert had nine points, five rebounds and five assists.

Idaho's Beyonce Bea struggled with shooting, going 4-20 but she posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Sydney Gandy posted 11 points. The 5-3 guard from Long Beach. California has scored double-digits in all of her first three games.

Kentucky 79 - Marshall 45

Kentucky improved to 5-0 with a runaway win over Marshall (1-1) behind 17 points on eight-of-13 shooting by Blair Green. The junior guard scored double figures for the first time since the season opener in 25 minutes of action. Her 61 percent shooting effort is her best of the year as she entered the game shooting 34 percent after UK's first four games.

Kentucky smothered Marshall's offense as the Thundering Herd had 17 turnovers with only seven assists. The Herd had a hard time shooting going 3-20 from three-point land.

UK star guard Rhyne Howard who has averaged 19.2 points over her career, posted 13 points with five rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Dre'una Edwards' streak of 10 or more rebounds stopped at three games but she grabbed eight rebounds which was tied for the team best with freshman Nyah Leveretter. Edwards also had 13 points and five assists as well. Junior center Olivia Owens posted 10 points for the Wildcats, which is her best point total thus far this season.

Marshall had one double-digit scorer. Sophomore reserve forward Alexis Johnson scored 16 points on six-of-nine shooting. She also had four rebounds and three steals. After Marshall's first two games she is averaging 14 points and 6.5 rebounds. Last season she averaged 1.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in a limited role.
