Big Ballers Do Big Things

Oklahoma State 69 - Kansas State 55

After outscoring its opponent 25-11 in the fourth quarter, Oklahoma State (10-5) raced past Kansas State in a road win.

Both teams had a rough shooting night as Oklahoma State shot 27-76 and Kansas State (5-7) went 18-51. The Cowgirls dominated the boards to a 52-31 advantage. Star forward Natasha Mack grabbed a game high 19 rebounds for Oklahoma State and had a double-double with 14 points. Mack's teammate Ja'Mee Asberry hit a game high five threes on her way to 21 points which also led all players.

Forward Taylen Collins scored 12 points with four assists. The freshman made six-of-seven shots and scored over 10 points for the third time this season. On the defensive side Mack had six blocks and three steals. Guard Lauren Fields also had three steals which tied Mack for the game lead.

Kansas State's Rachel Ranke also had three steals as well as 11 points. The Wildcats leading scorer was Christianna Carr who had 14 points.

Ohio State 88 - Maryland 86

Ohio State (9-1) fell behind 39-36 at the half after a rough second quarter where it was outscored 19-10.

The seventh ranked Maryland Terrapins (11-2) couldn't hold off Ohio State as the Buckeyes hit the boards and outlasted the road team. Forward Dorka Juhasz had the most rebounds with 16. She has pulled down at least 10 rebounds in all but two games this season. Her six points marked the first time that she didn't score at least 10 points this game.

Ohio State was led on offense by guard Madison Greene's 24 points and seven assists. She also posted five steals and four rebounds to fill up the stat sheet. Another Buckeye Jacy Sheldon put up 21 points and Braxtin Miller pitched in 18.

Maryland's Ashley Owusu was the game's leading scorer and assist getter. She had 33 points and nine assists. It was her second game with more than 30 points this season. Transfer guard Katie Benzan scored 22 points for Maryland. She is in the midst of her best season. The senior who previously played at Harvard is shooting a career high 50 percent and averaging 15.8 which is also the best mark of her career.

Southern 60 - Alabama State 56

After starting 3-8, some may have thought that Southern would struggle with Alabama State who came in at 4-1.

The Jaguars travelled to Alabama State and won behind a 20-point effort from guard Genovea Johnson. The 5-8 sophomore from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is averaging 15.2 points per game. Last season she averaged 5.9 as a freshman. So far this season she has had 20 points four times. Over the past two games she has scored 43 points on 15-of-24 shooting. Guard Nakia Kincey scored 17 points and hit eight-of-15 shots.

Alabama State got strong efforts from forward Shmya Ward and guard Ayana Emmanuel. Ward made eight-of-13 shots to score 20 points and pulled down nine boards with four blocks. Emmanuel shot six-of-11 shots with 18 points and nine rebounds as well.

Tennessee 70- Kentucky 53

Twenty-fifth ranked Tennessee dominated Kentucky during a home win on Sunday.

Forward Rennia Davis had her fifth double-double for the Lady Vols. She scored 15 points and took down a season best 20 rebounds. Davis also dished out four assists with no turnovers. In the past three games she has had nine assists and only one turnover. She's also made five-of-10 three-pointers.

Tennessee's 6-foot-5 center Tamari Key had her best offensive performance of the year with 19 points on eight-of-10 shooting. In her first eight games this season she posted less than 10 points in each contest. In the most five recent games she has averaged 15 points per game.

Kentucky's top performer was Chasity Patterson the defensive star led all players with five steals, while scoring 15 points, with four assists with only one turnover.

North Carolina A&T 86 - Delaware State 59

Freshman guard Sean Kelly Darks had her best shooting performance of the year connecting on seven-of-nine shots to score 18 points. Her performance helped to guide the Aggies to a 7-1 start of the season in the win over Delaware State.

North Carolina A&T won with a group effort. Forward Deja Winters led the team with 20 points. Guard Chanin Scott had a strong all-around game with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Guard Jasmen Walton made five-of-six shots with 10 points to go with four assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Senior center Jayla Jones-Pack was productive off of the bench with eight points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.
