Wolfpack ain't f##kin' around, better ask somebody

North Carolina State 74 - Louisville 60

If you are ranked number one and North Carolina State comes to your arena, you better play your best or you're going to lose.

For the second time this season, the Wolfpack beat the top ranked unbeaten team in the land, when it stopped Louisville. Three players each scored 16 points for North Carolina State while it survived a 29-point output by Louisville guard Dana Evans.

Center Elissa Cunane made seven-of-nine shots to score her 16 points for the Wolfpack. Sophomore guard Jakia Brown-Turner scored 16 points, and continued her streak of scoring at least 10 points in every game this season. Sophomore forward Jada Boyd scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds off of the bench. She made eight-of-eight free-throws as well. Senior forward Kayla Jones led NC State with 13 rebounds and four assists.

Evans made 10-of-22 shots for Louisville. The rest of the Cardinals made 13-of-38 field goal attempts. Evans connected on five-of-eight threes while her teammates hit three-of-11.

North Carolina State managed to get 14 assists versus 13 turnovers. Louisville had as many turnovers but only eight assists.

Northwestern 69 - Ohio State 57

Veronica Burton was one of two Northwestern (10-3) players with a double-double as the Wildcats toppled Ohio State (10-2) for a home win to start the month.

Burton was one assist short of a triple-double as she posted 20 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists. She also had four steals and one block. Burton, a junior, is having the best season of her career averaging 17 points per game. It was her second double-double of the year and fourth time scoring at least 20 points this season.

Northwestern guard Lindsey Pulliam posted 15 points, 10 boards and three assists. Northwestern overcame Ohio State's rebounding leader, forward Dorka Juhasz, who had 14 rebounds to go along with 11 points.

The Wildcats outrebounded the Buckeyes 46-38. They also outshot Ohio State 42 percent to 29 percent. Juhasz led Ohio State in points but she shot a less than flattering four-of-12. The Buckeyes' second leading scorer was Aaliyah Patty with 10 points and she shot an even worse two-of-nine.

A third Northwestern player scored double digits as guard Jordan Hamilton had 13 points while shooting five-of-eight.

Stanford 74 - Washington 48

Out west, Stanford is off to a 15-2 start and it is looking like a legit national title contender.

After a 28-9 first quarter the Cardinal cruised to a 26-point road win in Seattle against Pac-12 enemy Washington. Reserve sophomore guard Hannah Jump came off of the bench to lead the team with 15 points. Jump who averages 6.6 points per game, played a season best 28 minutes while matching her season high in points.

Lexie Hull, Kiana Williams and Haley Jones all scored 12 points apiece for Stanford. Jones led the way with four assists.

Jan. 30, 2021

West Virginia 79 - TCU 70

West Virginia's Kysre Gondrezick and TCU's Lauren Heard had a shootout on Saturday.

The two high scoring seniors went to war as Gondrezick led her Mountaineers to another win to improve to 13-2. Gondrezick scored 30 points which included a perfect 10-of-10 performance from the free-throw line. She made nine-of-17 shots, marking her first shooting effort over 50 percent since Dec. 3. Gondrezick also had nine assists and four steals.

Heard racked up a game high 34 points as she made nine-of-nine free-throws. She made 12-of-16 shots from the field as well. Heard is averaging 19.1 points per game. while Gondrezick is scoring 21.4 points per game.

West Virginia also got a strong performance from the talented sophomore Esmery Martinez, who scored 23 points to go with eight rebounds. No other player for TCU scored over 10 points besides Heard. West Virginia also took care of the ball, amassing 21 assists with just 11 turnovers. TCU had 12 assists and 19 turnovers.
