The Top Three-Point Shooters in Women's Basketball
Diamond Johnson - Rutgers - Freshman - Guard
Right now, the number one three-point shooter in the nation is a freshman and her name is Diamond.
Diamond Johnson is a 5-5 guard that is averaging 18.6 points per game, which is second on the team. She leads the country in three-point accuracy nailing 52.9 percent of her shots. Since Feb. 7, in her last four games she has made 18-of-28 threes. She is hitting 52.9 percent for the whole season. On Feb. 17, she scored a season high 26 points. During that game she had her best three-point shooting performance of the year, knocking down six-of-seven from beyond the arc. It was her fourth game with at least 21 points this season.
Aleah Goodman - Oregon State - Senior - Guard
In 10 games this season, Aleah Goodman has shot under 40 percent from three just one time. The 5-9 senior scored 33 against Washington State on Jan. 24. She hit four-of-eight from three that night and only got hotter afterwards. Goodman made nine of her next 14 attempts over the next three games. She is averaging a career best and team leading 16.6 points per game while shooting 51.7 percent from three.
Katie Benzan - Maryland - Senior - Guard
Maryland senior Katie Benzan is shooting a career best 51.6 percent from three-point land. She has made 50 percent of her three-point attempts in 11 games this season. On Nov. 29 she canned a season high eight three-pointers against Arkansas on her best scoring night of the year, where she had 28 points. She has hit four or more threes on eight occasions this year.
Morgan Carrier - Southeastern Louisiana - Senior - Guard
Shooting 47.9 percent from three, Morgan Carrier is having her best collegiate season, averaging 14.5 points per game. She has a career average of 6.9 points per game. On Jan. 27, she hit five-of-seven threes against Central Arkansas on her way to a season high 25 points. On Feb. 13, she hit five-of-seven threes again, scoring 20 points. After scoring double figures once in her first four games, she has scored at least 12 points in nine straight games.
Sam Lewis - Fairfield - Senior - Guard
A 5-11 guard, Sam Lewis is having a breakout season as a shooter. Prior to this season, she never shot over 28 percent from three. This year she is shooting 46.9 percent from beyond the arc. After a rough start where she shot one-of-eight from three against UMass, she shot 40 percent or better over the next five games. On Dec. 12, Lewis had a game for the ages when she hit 11-of-13 threes against Siena. She scored a career high 39 points that game. Her team won 76-44. Prior to that game she made five-of-10 threes to score 21 points the day before against the same team. She hasn't scored double figures since but is averaging a career best 9.6 points per game.
Amber Ramirez - Arkansas - Senior - Guard
A career 42.7 three-point shooter, Amber Ramirez is as consistent a long range shooter as there is in the nation. From Jan. 28 t0 Feb. 7 she had four straight games where she made five three pointers. She averaged 19.75 points during that stretch. On Dec. 9, Ramirez made a season best six threes on 14 attempts. She scored 18 points in that contest. She is averaging 13.2 points per game and shooting 46.5 percent from three.
Makayla Dickens - Boston College - Junior - Guard
In her last three games, Makayla Dickens has hit 12-of-18 three-pointers. She has only made 5-of-17 two point shots during the same time span. Her best three-point shooting game came Dec. 13, when she knocked down six-of-10 shots against North Carolina State. She scored 20 points in that contest. Dickens is averaging a career best 14.8 points and shooting a best 44.9 percent from three. She has had five games with at least four three-point makes this year.
