If you doubt that Maddy Siegrist is the best player in the Women's National Invitational Tournament, you probably were not watching her on Friday night.

She led Villanova to a 78-51 win over UMass with 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting. She also made five-of-six shots from three-point land. Siegrist bounced back from her worst game of the season when she scored just three points on one-of-10 shooting, March 7 in the Big East Tournament.

Her performance in the WNIT marks the fifth time this year that she posted over 30 points this season. Freshman Lior Garzon was the only other Wildcat to score double figures. She posted 13 points, making five-of-eight shots in 17 minutes of play.

UMass was led in scoring by Sam Breen's 14 points. The six-foot-one senior forward was limited to five-of-14 shooting (35.7 percent). Prior to the game she averaged 17.4 points and made 47.3 percent of her shots.

Langer shoots San Francisco past Houston

San Francisco led 22-16 after the first quarter, but Houston roared back to tie things up 39-39 at the half. Despite that, San Francisco gritted things out to defeat its opponent 71-63 in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament, March 19 in Fort Worth, Texas.

While Ioanna Krimili and Lucie Hoskova are the top two options for San Francisco, Amalie Langer was the player of the game. She scored a season high 23 points while draining six-of-11 threes. Langer entered the game averaging 10.3 points per game and had missed all of her 10 three-pointers over the past four games. Langer, a five-foot-nine guard from Denmark, also led her team with three steals on the defensive side.

Krimili struggled a bit going four-of-11 from the field with five turnovers. She did continue her strong shooting from three dropping three-of-seven shots from long range. She posted 14 points. Hoskova scored 18 points on seven-of-15 shooting.

Houston tried to outshoot a great shooting team and it didn't work out so well. The Cougars hit 39 percent of the 33 three-pointers that they took. The bad part is that they only took four free-throws for the entire contest. San Francisco on the other hand made 42 percent of their 29 threes and connected on 10-of-13 free-throws.

Houston was led in scoring by freshman guard Laila Blair's 19 points. She hit four-of-seven threes in the process. Miya Crump posted a double-double for Houston with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The junior guard also shared the team lead with five assists, along with fellow junior Dymond Gladney. On the defensive side Crump led all players with six steals.

Clemson edges Ohio in gruesome dogfight

Delicia Washington overcame nine turnovers with 19 points and six assists as she and her teammates fought off an eager effort from Ohio University.

It was an ugly game on the offensive side. Both teams shot a combined seven-of-41 from three-point territory. Ohio had eight assists and 16 turnovers. Clemson had 13 assists and 23 turnovers. The Tigers won the game with a rebounding advantage of 49-31 over Ohio. Freshman guard Gabby Elliott scored 16 points for Clemson. She is averaging 13 points per game in her first collegiate season. Washington, a senior guard, is Clemson's leader this season in scoring, rebounding and assists. She hauled down seven rebounds, while collecting three steals and two blocks in the contest.

Ohio usually gets more than 20 points from star guard CeCe Hooks but she was held to 17 in this game. Her other high scoring teammate Erica Johnson had an uncharacteristic game making just three-of-17 shots in an 11-point effort. Hooks did manage to post a double-double. She had 10 rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals.

Senior forward Gabby Burris shared the team lead with Hooks, scoring 17 points, making seven-of-14 shots.
