Willow or Mercedes? Who Win the AEW Women's Championship?

A look at Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone match at All In

By Carol CassadaPublished about a month ago • 3 min read

Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Mone is the hottest feud in women's wrestling. Their long-standing feud began in 2023 when Willow defeated Mercedes for the NJPW Strong Women's Championship. Since then they've carried their feud over to AEW where they've competed for the TBS Championship and now are going for the top prize.

Willow and Mercedes are set to fight at All In for Willow's Women's Championship. Nightingale won the title from Thekla at the Redemption PPV last month. But Willow's reign might be cut short if Mercedes has her way.

Mercedes and Willow's feud has left fans divided on who could win at All In. Both women are championship material and a win at Wembley Stadium would do wonders for them.

So, who should walk out of All In as Women's Champion?

Why Mercedes Should Win

There's no denying that Mercedes is one of the top women wrestlers. 2025 was a pivotal year for her as she won many championships across various promotions including CMLL and Revolution Pro. At one point, she held 13 championships earning her the name The Belt Collector.

However, after Willow defeated her for the TBS Championship at New Year's Smash, Mercedes went on a losing streak with the rest of her titles. With her belts gone, Mercedes took a break but came back stronger than ever in June 2026.

Mercedes became a surprise entrant in the Women's Owen Hart tournament and would later defeat Maya World to score back-to-back Owen Hart Cup victories. Now, she's ready to take the one championship that's eluded her.

Mercedes has come up short in her previous challenges for the Women's Championship. At All In 2025, she lost to "Timeless" Toni Storm, who gave Mone her first singles loss. Four months later, Mone challenged Kris Statlander for the championship, but suffered another loss.

It seems like third time might be the charm for Mercedes. The goal has always been for her to lose everything before going on a redemption arc to win the Women's Championship.

It would seem unlikely that AEW would have Mercedes win the Owen Cup two years in a row and lose both times. So, odds are in her favor to finally win the coveted prize in AEW's women's division.

Why Willow Should Win

Willow is one of AEW's most popular wrestlers. With her athleticism and fun personality, she's a fan favorite. She's already accomplished a lot during her five years in AEW, including becoming a two-time TBS Champion and winning the inaugural Women's Tag Team Championship with Harley Cameron.

Fans knew Willow was Women's Championship material, yet they didn't expect it to come so soon. Willow shocked the world when she defeated Thekla last month, creating a change to the women's title match at All In.

So far Willow's reign has been great with her showing that she's a fighting champion taking on all challengers. While fans are loving Willow as champion, they're worried she's nothing more than a transitional champion.

AEW already has one transitional champion heading into All In with Men's World Champion Kenny Omega set to drop the title to Will Ospreay. It seems odd that AEW would have two transitional champions both losing at their biggest PPV of the year.

Willow's worked hard and overcome injuries to get to where she is. It'd be a shame for her Women's Championship reign to end so soon just to elevate Mercedes. Although odds are in Mercedes favor at All In, it wouldn't be surprising to see Willow score an upset victory.

There's no doubt that Willow and Mercedes will put on another banger match. Whoever walks out Women's Champion will further solidify themselves as a star and the face of the women's division.
