When we talk about different sports, soccer is undoubtedly the most popular one in the world. With millions of followers, it is an activity that unites fans, and brings joy as well as excitement. Soccer players are considered stars in the world earning a lot of money and they are considered as players who are deemed as role models.

However, a question arises: what is the social responsibility of a good soccer player? Should he be an example to others, or just do his own work? In the following article we will have a look at some cases, with specific examples.

Marcus Rashford - Epitome of Good Player

You all probably know the star of Manchester United Marcus Rashford. Apart from his football skills, Marcus is a fantastic human being. He has become one of the most influential people in the world of sports in 2020. According to a study by the CIES football observatory, Rashford leads the ranking of the most expensive football players in the world - according to a special algorithm, its value is estimated at 165.6 million euros. However, his achievements on the field are nowhere near the charity campaign that Rashford launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to social media, he united the country and raised £20 million to help children, and after a letter to the UK government, disadvantaged families received more than 4 million meals.

The first lockdown in the UK began in March 2020 - only grocery stores and medical institutions were allowed to go outside, and the ban did not affect only the funeral from public and public events. Before the nationwide lockdown, the Players Together initiative was launched in partnership with NHS Charities Together, supporting NHS staff. As the measures tightened, the help of charitable organizations became even more important. Together with Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and other Premier League players, Rashford raised £4 million to fight the coronavirus.

If we take a look at the following action from a deeper perspective then we can conclude that Marcus Rashford also tries to give an example to others and help those in need. Thanks to Rashford, the British, regardless of gender, age and football preferences, are united in the fight against hunger and injustice. Even Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp complimented the footballer. Thanks to the coverage of the campaign on his Twitter and Instagram pages, Rashford saved the lives of many people, stirred up and fell in love with the public, which, together with the player, collects money to help those in need.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Coca Cola

You will also remember Euro 2020, which was postponed in 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic. A funny episode happened at the press conference of the Portuguese national team - Cristiano Ronaldo removed the bottles from Coca-Cola (tournament sponsor). The Portuguese is a big opponent of sugar and sugary drinks.

Ronaldo has a strict diet - he doesn't eat anything sweet The diet maintains Cristiano's football tone and changes from the tasks set. To build muscle or lose weight, Ronaldo's team chooses different sports methods: training, individual work in the gym, a special diet, and a rest regimen. Cristiano pays attention to even the smallest details. He is a perfectionist and when we talk about Ronaldo he is a role model for every player.

“A healthy diet is a foundation for playing football,” says Ronaldo. "If you don't use the right fuel, you won't be 100% ready."

Sweet things are bad fuel for Cristiano. That is why there is no sugar and harmful carbonated drinks in the Portuguese diet. The main thing is to take care of your body, exercise, and eat right.

Leading British nutritionist and author of Natural Sugar Substitutes, Marilyn Glenville, describes Ronaldo's breakfast as follows: “Whole grains are much better than very sweet and processed carbohydrates like bread and other baked goods. They are high in fiber and nutrients that release sugar. It is best to dilute fruit juice with water in a 1:1 ratio and drink it with food, as this will slow down the breakdown of sugar. "

In 2018, Ronaldo said that his biological age is 23 years old, he will continue to play football at the highest level until the age of 40.

On the one hand such action from Ronaldo was attractie for players and youngsters, but as we are talking about tournament sponsors, it caused wide outrage. Shares of Coca-Cola dropped and it was because of Ronaldo’s actions.
