Who is next in line for the shot at Light Weight Champion?

Khabib Nurmagomedov has shown his potential to become one of the greats, but has he really been tested? Khabib needs to win in one of these next fights to cement himself in UFC history, but which fighter will be his next test?

Tony Ferguson

El CuCuy

Tony Ferguson has never actually lost his belt as Lightweight Champion, nor has he lost since his 10 fight win-streak has started. To add his place as the #1 contender in the Lightweight division makes him the number one fight for Khabib. Tony's unique fighting ability and his skill of being deadly on his back proves that he might just be what it takes to beat the Dagestani fighter. Tony has displayed this ability to win on the ground in his fights against Kevin Lee and Anthony Pettis.

Conor McGregor

The Notorious One

Conor and Khabib's rivalry is probably one of the most iconic ones in history, and has the potential to make a lot of money, something both fighters are always interested in. The hatred these fighters share creates an insane atmosphere that always makes the fight interesting. To add, Conor did better than any other fighter in his last fight against Khabib, and a focused, well trained, smarter Conor can just do the job in the rematch.

Nate Diaz

The Stockton Slugger

Nate Diaz is looking for a big money fight, and what better return than this? Nate has proven that he has not only the skill to fight Khabib, but the name to generate a lot of money. To add this fight would a classic jujitsu versus wrestling match that will have you at the edge of your seat. Khabib's ability to keep taking hits like a tank and Khabib's ability to ram down his opponents till the fifth round also makes this an immovable object versus an unstoppable force that no one will be able to take their eyes away from. Plus, imagine how great that trash talk will be.

Max Holloway

Blessed

Can super-fights get any bigger than this? Two fighters that look absolutely indestructible in the octagon will be a fight to remember. In an era of champ-champs, this seems like a fight that just needs to happen. To add, Max Holloway does not have much more competition in the featherweight division, so moving to lightweight to fight Khabib seems like the most logical move that can happen for him right now.

Ben Askren

Funky

Ben Askren's resume in ONE Fighting Championship is all that is needed to prove that he is ready for Khabib. His amazing wrestling ability, which might even be better or equal to Khabib's, will make this a fight that will test both fighters in a way no one will forget for a very long time.

George St. Pierre

Rush

George St. Pierre is considered one of the best pound for pound fighters of all time; and due to his recent fight with Micheal Bisping, we know he has not slowed down, thus making him the ultimate test for Khabib. To add, both fighters have shown nothing but interest for fighting each other, which will make this match of powerful wrestlers one for the ages.

In Conclusion

Khabib has not yet proven himself as one of the greatest, but a victory over any of these fighters will be the ultimate test in deciding whether or not he deserves to have his name remembered with the greatest.
