Dallas' Arike Ogunbowale

Ok for fun, we are going to find the good in each WNBA team that has a losing record at the moment. You guys ready? Here we go.

While the Indiana Fever are struggling at 1-14, Teaira McCowan is having a solid season. She is averaging a career best 11.1 points per game and shooting a team best 53.2 percent from the field. The 6-7 center out of Mississippi State is also blocking 1.3 shots per game which matches her career high she set as a rookie back in 2019. She has compiled six double-doubles this season, including a 22-point, 16-rebound game against New York, on May 14.

Atlanta is 5-7, but Courtney Williams and Tiffany Hayes are draining their share of three-point shots. Hayes is leading the team with a 44.9 percent three-point clip. Williams is following her teammate up at 42.6 percent from long distance. Hayes leads the team with a scoring average of 17.6 points per game which is the best of her career. She has scored at least 21 points on five occasions this season. Williams is averaging a career best 16.9 points per game. The 27-year-old guard from Folkston, Georgia scored a season high 31 points when she shot 14-26 against New York, May 29.

Los Angeles is hoping to improve on its 5-7 record. Forward Nia Coffey is having her best WNBA season yet. The five-year veteran is averaging a career best 9.2 points and has never shot better from three in her career, draining 44.4 percent of her triples. Coffey started off the season from May 14 - June 3, with a hot hand, making 14-of-23 threes, which added up to a 60.8 percentage. She is also having career bests with a 45.1 overall shooting percentage, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. The 6-1 forward has blocked a season best six shots in a road game against Dallas, June 1.

Minnesota is the third team in the league with a 5-7 record, but it's 35-year-old leader center Sylvia Fowles is showing that she still has it in her 14th season. She is averaging 15.6 points, her best scoring average since 2018. Fowles is also making 63.3 percent of her shots which is above her career field goal percentage of 59.4. Defensively she is not slipping, as the LSU alum is collecting a career best 2.3 steals per game. Her previous career high in steals per game was in 2014 when she stole the ball 1.4 times per game.

Phoenix is 6-7, but center Britney Griner is returning to form after a down season in 2020. Griner had three-straight seasons from 2017-2019 with an average of 20.5 points per game or more. In 2020 she shot a career low 49.7 percent from the field while averaging 17.7 points per game. This year the 30-year-old, 6-9 star is back with a shooting percentage of 57.2, while averaging a double-double for the first time. Griner is scoring 19.6 points and grabbing 10.1 rebounds per contest. On June 13 she had a 29-point, 14-rebound game against New York. She followed that with a 30-point, 10-rebound game against Los Angeles, June 16.

The young Dallas Wings are 6-7 as Arike Ogunbowale has been a big-time performer for her team. The 5-8 third year guard is averaging 20.5 points per game and has had nine games with at least 20 points scored. She's also done a solid job dishing out dimes, with four games registering six assists or more. One of her better games this year came against defending WNBA champ Seattle when she posted 22 points, eight assists and just one turnover, June 6.
