IUPUI beats Iowa!

IUPUI 74, No. 15 Iowa 73

IUPUI (5-2) came back from being down 18 points to topple Iowa in its first ever win over a nationally ranked opponent.

Macee Williams scored 19 points with seven rebounds. Along with sharing the team lead in scoring with Rachel McLimore, Williams also paced the team with three assists. IUPUI outscored Iowa (6-3) 27-11 in the fourth quarter as the road team defeated the Big Ten favorite.

"Our team never gives up no matter how much we are down," McLimore said. "We're not afraid to play anybody. We believe we can beat anyone in the country when we step on the court."

No. 17 Georgia Tech 78, Boston University 49

Georgia Tech was too much on both sides of the ball as it improved to 10-2, Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets outrebounded Boston 44-26. They also had 19 assists and just five turnovers in the 29-point home win. Guard Eylia Love posted a season high 19 points to lead Georgia Tech. She shot 7-10 from the floor to go with five rebounds and two assists.

Forward Lorela Cubaj continued her rebounding spree as she snagged 14 boards, with 12 points, five assists and three blocks. The 6-4 senior has had seven straight contests with no less than 11 rebounds. She has grabbed 11 or more rebounds in nine of the 12 games that she has competed. She's also had five assists in six of her las seven games.

Lotta-Maj Lahtinen led Georgia Tech with six assists. She also scored nine points.

Ole Miss 61, No. 18 South Florida 53

After trailing 30-26 at the half, Ole Miss used a 15-5 third quarter to take control of the game and defeat the 18th ranked team in the NCAA. Ole Miss (13-1) has won 13 straight games after dropping its season opener.

Forward Madison Scott shot 6-8, leading Ole Miss with 12 points. After scoring double figures in five straight games from Nov. 23 - Dec. 5, she went three straight games without scoring more than eight points. Scott stepped up against South Florida to have her second highest field goal total of the season. She also tallied five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

Angel Baker came off of the bench to score 11 points in a season high 30 minutes. Lashonda Monk also had a productive game off the bench, scoring nine points on 3-5 shooting from the field.

South Florida struggled shooting 16-45 from the field. Guard Sydni Harvey had a strong performance for the Bulls. She posted 17 points on 5-10 shooting. Harvey made four of her six three-point attempts.

No. 25 North Carolina 83, Alabama State 47

After a 24-5 first quarter North Carolina cruised to a 36-point win over visiting Alabama State.

Forward Anya Poole led UNC with five blocked shots as she scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Eva Hodgson came off of the bench to collect a game best three steals. She shot 6-8 on her way to 14 points. North Carolina's leading scorer was Deja Kelly. The sophomore guard shot 4-9, including 2-3 from three. She also nailed all of her six free-throw attempts.

Jaelynn Murray led the Tar Heels with a season high eight rebounds off of the bench. She also played a season best 15 minutes while scoring six points and recording two blocked shots for her most productive night of the season.

Alabama State's Tyesha Rudolph had an individual night to remember. The senior guard scored a game high 22 points, making five of her seven three-point attempts and shooting 8-12 overall. She entered the game shooting just 18 percent from the field and averaging 1.7 points per game. Last season she averaged a career best 8.4 points and shot a career high 44 percent from three-point territory in 17 games.
