Ohio Dominican vs West Liberty

Tonight we are headed to watch some NCAA Division II basketball. Ohio Dominican will host West Liberty at Alumni Hall in Columbus, Ohio. The home team is 0-1 after losing its season opener against visiting Ferris State 75-69.

The Panthers shot the ball very well at 56.6 percent, but 20 turnovers along with subpar second and fourth quarters were counterproductive. Guard Macy Chapman led Ohio Dominican with 16 points, while shooting 6-8. The 5-9 freshman guard from Hilliard, Ohio, also shot a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line. Kayla McLendon also gave Ohio Dominican a strong performance. A 5-5 sophomore, from Columbus, McClendon shot 4-6 to score 10 points off of the bench. So far in 22 career appearances she is shooting 57.1 percent overall and 53.8 percent from three-point land.

West Liberty travels from West Virginia with a 1-1 record. The Hilltoppers are coming off of a thrilling 108-107 double-overtime win over Mercyhurst. West Liberty also went to overtime against California University of Pennsylvania in its season opener losing 70-67.

In the win over Mercyhurst, West Liberty got 38 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and a steal by Arriana Manzay. A 6-3 forward from Lubbock, Texas, Manzay shot 14-16 from the field and 10-13 from the free-throw line. So far this season she is averaging 24 points and 8.5 rebounds after the first two contests. Last season she averaged 12 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots. Manzay, who is shooting 78.3 percent from the field this season, has a career shooting clip of 63.4 percent.

Another player to watch for West Liberty is Karly McCutcheon. This 5-9 guard from New Castle, Pennsylvania poured in 30 points against Mercyhurst. She's averaging 23 points this season. Last year she averaged 13.7 points, while canning 74 threes in 27 appearances.

Anysa Jordan off to Strong Start at West Virginia State

After three seasons as a reserve at Eastern Kentucky, Anysa Jordan is looking like a great fit at West Virginia State. The 6-1 senior forward from Fairmont, West Virginia is averaging 14 points, five rebounds, 1.5 blocks and one steal per game in her first two contests. She has also shot a combined 11-16 in those first two appearances that resulted in wins for West Virginia State.

Ny Langley Owns the Glass at Virginia Union

A 5-10 junior forward, Ny Langley has been dominant in her first two games of the season at Virginia Union. She scored 22 points with 22 rebounds in 38 minutes in a loss to Stroudsburg. Langley followed that by leading her squad to victory with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists against Millersville.

A native of Greenville, North Carolina, Langley started in all of her 23 appearances last season, posting averages of 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds. She scored a season high 30 points in a game where she drained 15 of her 16 free-throw attempts against Shaw. Langley topped 10 rebounds in just three games last season, pulling down a season's best 15 boards in two different games.
