Bethy Mununga - South Florida
The 6-0 forward is rebounding in phenomenal fashion. Bethy Mununga grabbed at least 20 boards for the second straight game. She hauled down 20 rebounds against Utah, Dec. 2, to go along with 13 points. She also shot 6-10 in the contest, scoring 13 points, with two steals, two blocks and two steals. Over her past three games she has blocked seven shots. In the first five games of the season she recorded just two. Mununga is averaging 9.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks for the first eight games of the season.
Jewel Spear - Wake Forest
For the second time this season, Jewel Spear scored at least 30 points. On Dec. 4, the 5-10 guard shot 11-19, including 6-9 from three to score 30 points against Troy. She grabbed a season best seven rebounds in that game as well. Her season high was 32, which she scored against Cornell, Nov. 12. So far Wake Forest is 8-1 and she is averaging 20.3 points per game and shooting a strong 83 percent from the free-throw line.
Jazz Bond - North Florida
The 6-4 forward from Murfreesboro, Tennessee is honored for the second straight week. Jazz Bond scored 30 points and came close to posting a triple-double, Dec. 4 against Florida International. Bond shot 11-17, including 3-5 from three. She also shot a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line. The senior ripped down nine boards, with eight blocks, a steal and an assist. Bond has blocked at least one shot in every game this season.
Akila Smith - Longwood
On Nov. 30, Akila Smith posted a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks against Sam Houston State. She also had three assists and three steals. The tough 5-11 forward followed that up with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Drake. After her first seven games of the season she is averaging a career best 17.6 points per game. She is also shooting 57 percent and blocking 3.4 shots per game.
Paisley Harding - BYU
BYU has been unstoppable after her first eight contests and Paisley Harding helped to keep it that way on Dec. 4. She drained four of her seven three-point attempts when she scored 33 points against Utah. She shot 14-20 overall. Her performance was the highest scoring output of the season so far. It marked the third time that she has scored at least 20 points during this campaign. Her previous season high was a 25-point performance against Arizona State, Nov. 17.
Shayeann Day-Wilson - Duke
This 5-6 freshman from Toronto, Ontario, Canada is shooting threes like a madwoman. This week she shot 12-17 from three. On Nov. 28, Wilson drained a season high eight threes in 10 attempts, leading to 26 points against Troy. On Dec. 2, she drained four of her seven three-point attempts against Iowa with 19 points. In that game she had four steals, four assists and four rebounds. Wilson is averaging 13.1 points after her first seven games. She is shooting 50 percent overall and 47 percent from three.
Ali Bamberger - Saint Mary's
Ali Bamberger averaged 23.5 points and 19.5 rebounds in two games this week. On Nov. 30 the 6-3 forward scored 22 points with 20 rebounds against San Jose State. She shot 8-10 from the free-throw line in that game. Her next contest saw her score 25 points with 19 rebound and three assists against Fresno State. Bamberger has had four double-doubles this year.
Anya Poole - UNC
A 6-2 forward from Raleigh, North Carolina, Anya Poole had her first double-double of the season on Dec. 1. She grabbed 16 rebounds and scored 12 points against Minnesota. She also had season highs with three blocks, three assists and shot 5-8 from the field. Her team is off to a 7-0 start.
