A look at women's basketball talents

College basketball is in off-season mode but that doesn't mean we can't look back at the talent that made the 2021-22 season a success. Let's check out some of the women that you may or may not know but should on the hardcourt.

Khayla Pointer - LSU

A native of Marietta, Georgia, Khayla Pointer is a guard who lit up the scoreboard for LSU. Averaging a career best 19.6 points per game, Pointer scored 628 points this season which gave her a total of 1,934 points over five seasons. The 5-7 guard worked hard to improve her three-point shooting as she made a career best 47 triples in 32 contests hitting 36 percent of her shots from beyond the arc. Pointer posted a triple-double this season scoring 16 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Ole Miss. She posted a near triple-double in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with 26 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in a victory over Jackson State. Points posted 32 points in her final collegiate contest, a second-round loss in the NCAA Tournament versus Ohio State. Pointer currently plays in the WNBA for the Indiana Fever where she is currently a reserve.

Morgan Jones - Florida State (Louisville Transfer)

Morgan Jones scored 1,014 points with 525 rebounds in 114 games at Florida State. Last season she averaged a career best 13.8 points per game and also had her best year from the free-throw line making 76.8 percent of her free-throws. Jones is a 6-2 forward from Jonesboro, Georgia. She had a big performance in Florida State's upset against No 22 Georgia Tech. Jones scored 21 points with 10 rebounds. Her top scoring efforts came when she scored 28 points against Louisville and 25 points in an early season win over Grambling. In a win over Clemson where she scored 15 points, Jones shot an outstanding 11-12 from the free-throw line. Jones will compete the 2022-23 season playing for Louisville.

Lindsey Thall - Kent State

Lindsey Thall is a consistent forward who has averaged 11.1 points per game during her career at Kent State. The 6-2 native of Strongsville, Ohio averaged 10.2 points per game as a freshman in 2018-19, 11.7 the next season, 11.1 in 2020-21 and 11.4 last season. She was a big part of Kent State's success as proven in her team's upset over UCLA of the PAC-12. Thall 20 points in the win over the Bruins who were ranked No. 19 at the time of the contest. She followed that with a 22-point outburst the next day against UMass. In an opening round win in the Women's National Invitational Tournament against Youngstown State, Thall scored 15 points with five rebounds and two blocked shots. Over her career Thall has been a quality shot blocker and three-point shooter. She has blocked 167 shots in 110 games and has hit 218 three-point shots on 37.6 percent shooting from long range.

Fujika Nimmo - Cal State Fullerton

A 5-8 guard, Fujika Nimmo averaged 10.1 points per game during her first season at Cal State Fullerton after two years at Florida International. Nimmo scored a season high 19 points from the field against Cal State Bakersfield. She shot 8-11 from the field and dished out four assists during the contest. In an early season win over San Francisco, Nimmo posted 18 points and on two other occasions she scored 17 points. During 2020-21, Nimmo had her top scoring season thus far, while still at Florida International. She averaged 12.1 points per game as she helped FIU advance to the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament Consolation Final. On the way there Nimmo posted a career high 28 points against Abilene Christian. She knocked down 10 of 14 shots in that win.
