Otterbein prepares for Muskingum

Otterbein vs Muskingum

The 18th ranked Otterbein Cardinals will host Muskingum tonight in Westerville, Ohio. Muskingum enters the match with an 11-2 record played entirely away from home.

Khloe Taylor leads the visiting Fighting Muskies with an averaged of 2.76 kills per set. Defensively Gracie Collins is pacing Muskingum with 3.93 digs per set. Otterbein is led by All-American Morgan Hartman's 3.38 kills per set. The 5-10 outside hitter from Lancaster, Ohio recorded her 850th career kill on Sept. 23 in Otterbein's 0-3 loss to Mt. St. Joseph. Hartman currently sits with 855 kills in 67 career matches and 228 sets played. Her best match of the season so far was on Sept. 4 when she registered 28 kills in a five-set win over Augsburg. She hit .339 while also posting 11 digs. Hartman has posted three 20-kill matches and five double-doubles this season.

Otterbein hopes to stop its two-match slide. Along with the loss to Mt. St. Joseph, the Cardinals also lost to Transylvania on the same day. Despite the losses Otterbein stands with an impressive 12-4 record.

Cleveland State 3, Robert Morris 1

Cleveland State improved to 5-10 and 2-2 in Horizon League play after beating Robert Morris 3-1 (26-28, 25-13, 25-19, 26-24). The visiting Vikings were led in victory by Laken Voss who posted 17 kills. The freshman is having a strong individual season leading her team with an average of 3.33 kills pr set. She's also third on the team at 2.27 digs per set. Voss is the daughter of Cleveland State head coach Chuck Voss, who is in his 23rd season with the program. Coach Voss has led CSU to an all-time best 371 wins while being named Horizon League Coach of the Year six times during his career.

Cal State Fullerton 3, Long Beach State 1

Cal State Fullerton improved to 8-3 with a victory over Long Beach State yesterday. The host Titans won 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22) as Julia Crawford led the way with 16 kills on a .378 hitting percentage. She also collected 10 digs, which was second to Nadia Koanui's 11 for the winners. Daniel Jefferies had a strong .800 hitting percentage with 12 kills on 15 total attacks. Lolo Fonua also scored 12 kills for Cal State Fullerton, hitting .333.

After a 1-2 start, Cal State Fullerton has won seven of its last eight contests. The Titans will go to battle against Hawaii at home on Friday night.

Kansas City 3, Western Illinois 1

As both teams have gotten off to rough starts, Kansas City earned itself a win over Western Illinois in Summit League action.

Kansas City hosted its opponent winning 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 26-28, 25-19) as both teams are now 4-11 overall. Odyssey Warren was the star of the game. She posted 20 kills and 11 digs. Warren, a junior outside hitter who is competing in her hometown is having a career season averaging 3.25 kills and 2.67 digs per set. Both are career highs.
