THE SPORTS REVERENDS discuss the massive contract signed by Patrick Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs! Patrick Mahomes signed a 10 year contract extension with bonuses included...that gives him the ability to make just over 500 Million dollars! He also has an injury guarantee of 140 Million!

Sports Rev Drew says: The Kansas City Chiefs will not win another NFL Championship with this massive signing. Throughout history...any team that signs a Quarter Back to take up 13.5% or more of the teams salary cap...has not had success at winning Super Bowls. Especially when the team has won/made a Super Bowl while their Quarter Back is on their rookie contract.

Sports Rev Dan says: The Kansas City Chiefs are a dynasty in the making and that the deal Patrick Mahomes made is actually a team friendly deal. It is a contract extention...which means they still have this year and the following year on Patrick Mahomes original contract.

Then the first two years of the extension Patrick Mahomes will be taking up only 16 percent of the teams salary cap compared to a lot of teams that have signed their franchise Quarter Back to take up 14-15 % of their teams salary cap.

After those two years...everything changes! The NFL will be renogotiating their T.V contract deal and will create a higher salary cap for the NFL teams and this will give those next 8 years a very team friendly signing for the current best Quarter Back in the league, which will give them opportunities to be legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl year in and year out!

The Coach says: that the Kansas City Chiefs are going back-to-back as champions this year. He was leaning more towards if the Chiefs are going to win...it has to be within the next 2-4 years. Later down the road will be difficult to compete!

At The Sports Reverends we are personally inspired by sports. Sports teaches us all about life and how to succeed in life. Our goals in our life where to make it to the big leagues. That did not pan out. Even though that goal may have failed it has inspired us throughout our whole lives.

Personally, without sports I am sure I would have ended up in a gang and/or in jail. Learning about teamwork, hardwork, dedication and loyalty help me grow in my own life and kept me out of major trouble. Seeing some of my heroes who are celebrity athletes (Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Michael Irvin and many others!) share about their inspirational journeys inspired me.

Our goal is to take the lessons we learned from our sports careers, combining them with current sports news around the world, to help make a positive difference for the next generation. Sports saved my life and I know it can save many others.
