Faye Katherine Dancer was born April 24th, 1925 in Santa Monica, California Lloyd Augustus Dancer and Olive Victoria Pope. Faye attended Santa Monica High School, Dancer played softball for the Dr. Peppers and would later attend University High School in West Los Angeles.

Dancer joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1944 when she joined the Minneapolis Millerettes. During her first season, she had a batting average of .274, scored 58 runs, had 48 runs batted in, The following season, the Millerettes moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and were renamed the Daisies. During this time, Dancer became known for entertaining the crowds at the games by doing cartwheels and backflips. Dancer would play for the Daisies until 1947 when she began playing for the Peoria Redwings where she would play until 1950.

Dancer was inducted into the National Women's Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002. Shortly after, Dancer died on May 22nd, 2002 at age 77 after undergoing surgery for breast cancer.

The Parents of Faye Dancer: Lloyd Augustus Dancer and Olivie Victoria Pope

Olive Victoria Pope was born February 18th, 1900 in Minnesota to Charles Frederick Pope and Aletta Erickson. Lloyd Augustus Dancer was born February 28th, 1901 in Michigan to Floyd Dancer and Eva M Webster. Olive and Lloyd married on November 28th, 1922 in Jackson, Michigan when Lloyd was 21 and Olive was 22.

According to the 1930 United States Census, Olive and Lloyd were living at 11970 Walnut Lane in Los Angeles, California. During this time, Lloyd was working as an Assistant Foreman for the Water Department. By 1940, the Dancer family was still living on Walnut Lane. By this time, Lloyd was working as a Service Inspector for the Los Angeles Water Department. Two years later, in 1942, Lloyd Dancer registered for the draft. On his draft card, his is listed as being 5'11, 143 pounds, having blue eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion.

Lloyd died on June 16th, 1965 in Los Angeles at age 64. Olive died on June 1st, 1996 at age 96. Both Lloyd and Olive are now buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica, California.

The Paternal Grandparents of Faye Dancer: Floyd Dancer and Eva M Webster

Floyd Dancer was born in 1868 in Michigan to Cornelius Dancer and Margaret Cornwell. Eva May Webster was born on September 29th, 1873 to Charles Webster and Mary Croach. On February 18th, 1889 Floyd and Eva married in Summit, Michigan when Floyd was 20 and Eva was 15 years old. By 1900, Floyd and Eva owned their own farm in Hanover, Michigan. The Dancers would own and live on this farm together until Floyd died in 1928 when he was 60 years old. Eva died on October 13th, 1942 when she was 69 years old. During their lives, they would have six children together including, Cornelius, Mattie, Marion, Lola, Lloyd, and Helen.

The Maternal Grandparents of Faye Dancer: Charles Frederick Pope and Aletta "Lettie" Erickson

Charles Frederick Pope was born March 30th, 1877 in Michigan to John B Pope and Victoria Granger. Aletta "Lettie" Erickson was born December 18th, 1878 in Canby, Minnesota to Andrew Erickson and Olive Nelson. According to the 1900 United States Census, Charles and Lettie married in 1898 when Charles was 21 and Lettie was 20. By 1910, Charles and Lettie were living on their own farm in Scipio, Michigan with their two children, Olive and Charles Jr. On September 12th, 1918, Charles registered for the draft as the United States entered in World War One. At this time, Charles was still working as a farmer and was listed as being of medium height, medium build, having brown eyes, and brown hair.

Aletta died on October 31st, 1954 when she was 75. Charles died on December 29th, 1956 when he was 79 years old.

The Paternal Great-Grandparents: Cornelius Dancer and Margaret Cornwell

Cornelius Dancer was born January 12th, 1837 in Michigan to George Dancer and Elizabeth Sloat. Margaret Cornwell was born July 16th, 1839 in Michigan to Ariel Cornwell and Mary Ann Rathborn. Cornelius and Margaret married on January 1st, 1861 in Jackson, Michigan when Cornelius was 23 and Margaret was 21. By 1880, Cornelius and Margaret were living in Hanover, Michigan on a farm with their four children, Ida, Melissa, Floyd, and Annie. On December 27th, 1907, Margaret died at age 68. Cornelius died four years later on September 21st, 1911 at age 74. They are buried in Horton Cemetery in Horton, Michigan.

The Maternal Great-Grandparents of Faye Dancer: John B Pope and Victoria Granger

John B Pope was born August 4th, 1852 in Michigan to Alexander Pope and Brigid McMurray. Victoria Granger was born in September 1852 to parents whose names are unknown. John and Victoria married in 1879 when they were both 27 years old. By 1900, the Pope's were living in Scipic, Michigan living on a farm with two of their three children, Charles and Ray. John B Pope died on July 13th, 1936 in Michigan at age 83. It is unknown when Victoria died.

The Paternal 2x Great-Grandparents of Faye Dancer: George Dancer and Elizabeth Sloat

George Dancer was born in 1795 in New York and Elizabeth Sloat was born around the year 1800 in New York. Not much is known about the lives of George and Elizabeth before 1850. In the 1850 United States Census, George and Elizabeth were living in Hanover, Michigan. During this time, George was listed as working in the Agriculture industry. By 1860, the Dancer family was still living in Hanover, Michigan and lived on a farm, which they owned. The farm in 1860 was worth $400 which today is equal to $12,356.10 in 2020. Just two years later, in 1862, George died on September 1st, 1862, at age 67. The last document that Elizabeth appears in is the 1870 United States Federal Census. On this Census, Elizabeth is still listed as living in at the same place as the 1850 and 1860 Census in Hanover, Michigan. Her sons, Cornelius and Nelson were still living with her as well as Cornelius' family.

The Paternal 2x Great-Grandparents of Faye Dancer: Ariel Cornwell and Mary Ann Rathborn

Ariel Cornwell was born February 28th, 1807 in Cayuga County, New York to Samuel and Mary Cornwell. Mary Ann Rathborn was born in 1813 in Preston, Connecticut. On November 7th, 1837, Ariel bought a plot of land in Jackson County, Michigan from the United States Federal Land Office. The form was signed by then President Martin Van Buren.

Not much else could be found on Ariel Cornwell and Mary Ann Rathborn. Ariel died on August 31st, 1873 in Jackson County. Michigan at age 66. Mary Ann died six years later on November 24th, 1879 at age 66.
